popping the pivot out of a toad

my toad's blade has some surface rust, but i can't seem to take the pivot out.i took the simple screw out, but it's got this weird female half:

any idea how to get it out?
spyderco won't take it apart as it's against the warranty.

There is a possibility that it is press-fitted into the scale. It can probably be removed with a brass punch the correct size. Getting it back in may be a bigger problem, though. My general advice on knife disassembly is, if you have to ask how, don't try it.

but i need to take it out to clean off the surface rust... it also needs a cleaning so it can open smoothly again.

I looks like it should slide right out. Have you tried using a wooden dowel to push it through?
