Hey fellow RAT lovers.
Do you guys think that the Izula actually had an impact on RAT's popularity?
I think that because this knife is so cheap, quite a few people decided to buy it. After using the Izula, you just fall in love, and before you know - you buy at least a couple more RATs.
Am I right? or were the bigger models more of an intrigue form most people??

I would think that more Izulas have been sold than any other RAT model.
I really like the knife, it's a great fixed-blade EDC, but it hasn't spurred me on to go out and start adding the other models.
For hiking, camping and such, I stick to knives I have used for many years.
I believe the soon to be card carrying cult culture mentality has more to do with the intrigue.

You need more RATs.

Maybe. I hadn't heard of RAT cutlery until last year when looking for a camp fixed blade. I was steered towards the RC-4 and was so happy with the purchase that I ended up with an Izula a few weeks later. I now have two Izulas and no RC-4. The Izula alone is enough for me to be a RAT fan. I do plan on picking up an RC-6, Junglas or machete though eventually.

My experience is kinda similar; now that I own a RC-5 the Izula has started to really grow on me and intend to order one shortly. I'll bet RAT has sold a bunch of those little knives!!

I found RAT looking for a bigger knife. My wife bought be the Izula and an RC-5 and I love the Izula so much it's now my EDC but the bigger knives got me into RATs

i got the izula with the idea that i would only be using it around the house. now i will EDC it, once my sheath gets here, i like the combination of the sub 3" blade with the 4mm thickness. i cant imagine doing anything that could break it.

RC-6 first then Izula then RC-3 RP then I will be getting a RC-5, Junglas maybe a Lite Machete and Izula folder heck might as well get one of each.

I think quality knives that look good and great customer service are why RATs are so popular.

I first just thought they looked cool but after reading about the quality and service, I had to try one. 3 RATs later and a fourth on the way, I’m sold.

It would be a “cult mentality” if they weren’t that great and their reputation was all hype based on the opinions of those who had spent their money on them. I also hear the cult and kool-aid comments about guns on a regular basis. I’m a Glock cult member because they do their job very well and I haven’t found anything that does it better for me at this point. Same goes for shoes, tools and most other gear.

I found RAT while looking for a new hunting/camping knife, around a 4-7" blade. The RC-5 was the first RAT knife that I purchased, the Izula didn't come along till number 3. The Izula is just a great blade that can be easily EDC or used to camp, hunt, cut up the deer you just shot, or used as a backup blade in combat. That's where the Izula gets it's popularity, it's the jack of all trades.

The RC 4 was what did it for me. After that, I was pretty much hooked on RAT Cutlery.

If I were ever to buy a RAT gift for anybody it would be an Izula, just to introduce people into knives.

Regardless of the model you started off with you have to admit that the Izula is the popcorn of the RAT lineup. :)

I stumbled upon the RAT website a few months back while doing some research on survival kits. I was initially drawn to the RC-6, but ultimately ordered an Izula. After handling the knife and having my sons use it also, I promptly ordered two more to give to my sons for Christmas. Next, I was fortunate enough to get in on the extra Rat Pack RC-3s. The RC-3 has become my go to fixed blade for weekend walks in the woods with my kids, fire prep and even kitchen use. Last week, I ordered an Izula to give to a friend for his birthday.

I've been really impressed with my Izula and RC-3 and plan to add an RC-6 and, possibly (depending on price and specs), an ESEE Lite Machete to the mix.

Started off with an RC-4, then an RC-6, then an RC-3 than a couple of Izulas than the forum knife :D Of course, when I bought the RC-4, the RC-3 was the only other blade in the line up. I bought the RC-6 in the pre-order days :D

The Izula is what started the ball rolling for me,when it came to RAT Cutlery.Since then Iv'e added the 4,3,and the 6,great knives and a great company! Now I want the Rat pack kit with the RC5,also will end up getting the Junglas, even though I don't need any more choppers. But when you can afford it(or can't),it's never really about need!
