Picked up the bare leafblade that Rick Barrett had on his website for the longest time (that no one snagged up!). It's 8670M. Rick said it is polished up to 400, still blue from HT in the salts. Sat down tonight to start planning out what I want to do with it. Busted out some tractor printer paper I got from a good friend and traced out the blade and though some different things out. Using some cool techniques I am barely scratching the surface of, in a very basic way, I laid out the guard design I thought might work cool with the blade. It will be a double ring sort of thing, with straight bars that are upset at the ends. I just put a wheel pommel on there for simplicity sake, I might change it I might not I might do some cool things to the wheel to make it not so plain, not sure yet.

Blade is a diamond cross section, with a short fuller inset into a sort of hex cross section at the base of the blade.

Got the pommel done, went with a simple bean shape (flattened disc).

I'll snag some better pictures in the sun tomorrow.

ALSO, got my scotch brite setup going on my bench grinder, so I scotch brite finished the blue off of the blade from the salts, and underneath was this antique like beautiful surface texture, awesome :D I take scotch brite pads, get them for 7$ pack of 5, cut them in half and punch a hole in the center of the squares and put them on the arbor.

Also reground a tang onto a katana blade that got all messed up, turned it into sort of a shortsword here's a shitty picture.

Erik I am going to do a sub hilt on that little short sword like the one you did, hopefully will finish it before Ashokan! Then we can fight :D !

LOL...don't know about that but maybe we can slice up some watermelons :D

Sam, that's pretty cool :)
Make sure you bring her out to play at Ashokan!

Nice Sam. I like how you did the guard.
How about thin leather with a twisted wire wrap(full wrap).

Wait a minute, you're building a handle for it????

What happened to the "wrap the tang with leather and then tie it off with a shoelace" Salvati handle we've all come to love???
