Porta band??

I think you got a dud. Mine is loud at full speed, but it tracks and cuts beautifully!

Shortly after you get your new Swag table and Milwaukee corded saw ( my preference) you are going to come here asking which blade to buy. They are not all created the same. MK Morse 8/11 and 14/16 have a totally different tooth design than other porta-band blades, and the really work better and last longer. They are about the same price as the other brands and they are made in the US.

Like many have already said, the SWAG table is the way to go unless you build your own. As far as saw, I've been very happy with my deep cut DeWalt. I would highly recommend getting the foot feed pedal with the SWAG also. Most guys aren't as anal as me with keeping their shops clean but I built a simple pine box with a vac port to collect dust. It's not great but it works decent with the vac while cutting dusty handle materials. The box collects all the metal dust and you can vac it out every couple weeks or so. Also you may find you need to shim the plate that connects to the saw so that your blade is a perfect 90* to the work surface.

This is a great idea Signalprick Signalprick . I’m stealing it!

Did you leave the bottom open? If not, do you have the metal legs of the swag table resting on the bottom of the box? Any vibration issues?

Have at it. There is no vibration. The box is built around the table with the legs on and there is a bottom to it. It collects all the chips and debris so I just pull the saw out every couple weeks and vac it all out.

Awesome. With my limited shop time these days I will get to it some time in the next few decades.
