My super high quality Harbor Freight Portaband finally broke.... I took it apart quick and saw that the piece the holds the blade guide bearings was broke. Now I've been searching up and down the net, and can't find the part that I need. I tried emailing Harbor Freight multiple times with no response. So then I called, and I couldn't speak to anyone until I had the part number for what I needed. Its hard to have a part number for a part you can't find, or really know what its called. Manuals are no help. Any suggestions?
Its similar to this, but again, I have yet to find the exact part. Should I just mill one out of solid aluminum myself?

For what they're going to charge you for the part and shipping, you're probably close to half the price of a brand new saw...

I think your best bet is to make one.

I'd probably just make one myself, BUT....

Page 10 and 11 gives parts numbers and a diagram... looke like part #32 "left blade guide". I don't see a "right" guide, but it's probably just the same piece turned around, correct?

I've looked through that same manual multiple times. I'm pretty sure that is just a list number. Not an actual part number. But thanks, I'm pretty sure I'm just going to end up making my own.

Ah... I assumed that was all HF needed for a replacement order.

Here is my part. With the block of aluminum I hope to make one from. It was a last resort thing but as you can tell, I tried tacking this back together. Knowing it was either aluminium or a very cheap cast material, I tried anyways, and it exploded everywhere..

Graingers started selling repair parts for brand name power tools a few years ago. I do not know if HF is supported. But I think Milwaukee and DeWalt are, for anyone that uses those machines.

Why not just save the hassle and buy a dewalt. If money is an issue you can get them used for cheap. Dewalt and Milwaukees are what industrial contractors use and we beat the hell out of them every day.

Its not that money is an issue. Just that a simple part replacement would fix the problem so I had to check and see if I could get one. If I COULD get away without spending a bunch of money first, that's usually what I try to do.
Finally got ahold of HF, this model is "discontinued" and no longer sell parts. Yet I guarantee the "New" portable band saw has the exact same parts, and he wouldn't even offer to sell me those. So, I either make a new part, or buy a new saw.....A dewalt would be nice but they're like $325+ last I checked.

The new HF model is totally different

I guess the design is very different. But the thing that threw me off was the guy I was talking to said the new one is made by a different company, yet they're both Chicago Electric.

like most all items made in China, there are different manufacturers for just about everything. Chicago tools doesn't have a factory, HF just gives the specs to a maker and they make it.

Understandable. So Chicago Electric is pretty much HF's stamp.

Correct. Do a Google image search on 1x30 belt grinders and you'll see delta, grizzly and HF all look identical.
