Portable Game Sytem

Old school Gameboy. Those things take a beating and keep on working. I don't know how many hours I spent in front of that thing, just twiddling away on Tetris and Link's Awakening. When Pokemon came out, it was crazy.

Well I didn't even think of the Iphone/touch and the other versions of the Gameboy. I guess I have more options then I thought.

I don't think I can pull of the laptop though. I travel with a work one and it probably would not be the best idea to load it down with games.

Netbook, though I don't know how well it could respond. You could probably run more basic stuff on it, you know, classic games.
And there is almost a limitless amount of freeware to try.

Thanks for all the replies but I went with the DSi. On a whim I stopped by one of those game trading places and found a used DSi and ended up with it and a few games for cheaper then a new one.

Ipod touch..

Movies, games, music

There really are some great very unique games due to the tilt and touch controls. Mostly puzzle games play best, lots of tower defence games, a lot of cool ports of java and flash games, the 1st person shooters are not great, as well as most of the racing titles.

But games like doodle jump, bubble head, icopter, flight control, zen bound, Eliss (best games ever!!) and Galcon (srsly a GOOD game!!!) are all great games. Most run around .99cents-$1.99

Honest I have not played the Ps3 in months due to all the "unique games" the iPhone/itouch offers  (and I'm a die hard gamer ;)... Might be a phase? But really look at some YouTube reviews of the games above and see if you might like them?

Plus movies, plus music.. All should keep you awake. Just keep it away from the Mrs. Because she will want to take it!

Actually, having handled both the PSP and the and the iPod Touch, it really is a realistic contender as a gaming system.

Obviously not for a hardcore game fan, but you'd be very surprised what games are available for direct download--and at under a dollar to 7 dollars, instead of the $25-40 dollar PSP game pricetag.

If you're just looking for something to kill time, and don't absolutely have to have every brand new game out for a mobile platform, an iPod touch is the way to go.

I'm playing a StarCraft clone on mine right now. Before that it was a port of Bungie's Abuse. Heck, there's even a Sim City port, and major developers now market side games for the iPod and iPhone based on PC releases.

**lol, didn't see you'd already made up your mind. Still, lots of options out there!

A PSP with custom firmware can emulate several systems, including GBA and SNES, and you could also download PSP games and run them off the memory card if you so wanted to. You'd need to buy a decent sized mem stick then, but 4GB is only like $18.

I have a PSP and DS, and I don't really play my DS anymore, though I would like to get one of those emulator cards you can buy...

i agree a psp with custom firmware is the best, you can play all psp games, mp4s,mp3's like normal and then emulate the PS1, SNES, Genesis, NES, GBA, GB to play all the classics, get a decent e-book, and comic book reader and surf the internet.

if you aren't going with custom firmware look at the games for the dsi and the psp and see which one has more that you like.

or maybe open pandora
i'd kinda like one of thoose
