I had bought at HF the 1hp metal cutting bandsaw but, had a lot of problems with it took it back. I have been looking at the Milwaukee 10.5amp 6232-6N portable band saw. Can I use this portable band saw to cut blade stock?. It has a 4 7/8 opening for cutting and it seems it has good power to do the job. Before I purchase one of these, has anyone used this type to cut blade stock steel?. Or I may go back to using my angle grinder with a metal cutting wheel to cut the steel, just trying to make life easier.

I use a HF one and it works alright. A milwaukee shound work 10x better it sure cut emt conduit really well when I was running cabling for a living.

The Dewalt portaband is pretty popular round these parts . It has been a champ in my shop. You can see photos of my setup in post #2 of THIS THREAD. I used to post under the username "Hypocrite".

There's also a Milwaukee shown down at about post #30.

My dewalt has an adjustable speed control other than the trigger which has been handy because I just put a zip tie on the trigger and use the knob to run it. tracks good and has an easy to change blade system. cant beat it.

I've had the De Walt for about a year or so now and have had no problems with it. Mounts easily to the wall too!!

I had a Milwaukee saw, which lasted less than a year before it went south, then I took after Steve an purchased the top end Dewalt.....so far its working well, and the variable speed makes it very versatile.

Thanks gentlemen for the recommendations. Could you guys tell me what DeWalt model bandsaw that you have so, I can get the same one?.

Yea, i have a dewalt to. i find i use it twice as much as my 4x6 saw. they both have their place but i find the dewalt to be a versitile smooth and quiet little bugger. i had no idea how to mount it and it only took my 5 minutes with a block of wood and some screws with angle iron :)
