Any good knife shops in any of these areas that I should look up? I'm going to be out that way on a trip next week.

Our international headquarters is 20 minutes north of downtown Seattle in the city of Lynnwood. If you stop by, I can show you a good time! :D Though we don't open our facilities to tours, you and I can play with any of our knives you'd like!

If visiting interests you, give me a call (888.SOG.BEST, ext. 228) or drop me an email.

Also, Excalibur Cutlery has a chain of excellent "mall-oriented" knife stores in Oregon and Washington.

George and Son Cutlery. They're in downtown Portland, Oregon on Washington street between 3ed and 4th. This is the oldest knife shop west of the Miss. and possibly the oldest continuously operating one in the US. Carl George, who still runs the place, is not the George in George and Son, nor is he the Son. He is the great-grandson. The shop was moved to America from Germany in 18-something-or-other. The family have been Henkles (sp?) dealers for longer than America has been a nation. Mr. George, who is over 70 now, has probably sharpened more knives than any man presently alive. If you've got a question, he knows the answer and he's just as nice a gentleman as you'll ever meet.

Portland Cutlery, which is just a few blocks away, is pretty good too.

If you can get all the way down to Salem, Oregon, Northwest Knives and Collectibles is one of the finest knife stores in the nation and very much specialized in high-end collectibles and hand-made stuff.

Mr. Rockspyder,

Email received and replied to. Meeting you (or any forumite) here at SOG would certainly fun, an honor, and dang it, part of my job!!! :D

Have knives...will show...have fun!!!

Chuck...you don't live too far away. My invitation extends to you, as well. But with you, I'd make you bring a knife or two from your collection to show me! :)

But, I'm still trying to get Dann (Glockman99...or as we're calling him now in the SOG Forum, SOGman99) up here for a visit and he's only from Aberdeen, Washington (only about 1.5 hour drive compared to about 3.5 from Portland, Oregon).

You are to kind, Ron. I will take you up on that here shortly.

Ron,

I'm just in the U-district. A visit to Sog might be kind of cool! :)

I forgot to rule you out of "everyone"! ;)

Just kidding! Come on by!

Rockspyder, if you will be in the Seattle area the weekend of Oct 5 & 6 go to the Puyallup fairgrounds for our local knife show.

I second Chuck's recommendation of George and Son Cutlery. I've spent lots of money there.

Ron, I think SOG should be at the knife show with a table. You would be surprised at the number of local people who don't know SOG is a local company.

I know this isn't a knife store, but if you are in Seattle, you should check out the ONLY Filson retail store. It is near the baseball stadium. I guess for the exact address and/or phone #, check out www.filson.com If I ever get back to Seattle for any reason, I will be sure to return to this god-like mecca of outdoor clothing.

I do declare that we should figger out when ol Rockspyder is gonna be up there and endeavor to meet for a big ol' SOG luncheon. We could bring a bunch of knives, drink a bunch of brew, and maybe knock over a liquor store up in the hilltop district!

Well, maybe venturing into hilltop wouldn't be a good idea, and maybe knockin' over a hooch hut ain't so bright either, but the rest sounds good, don't it?

That sounds awesome, IF I can make it up there. The problem is, as I told Ron earlier in email, that I have a very small window of opportunity near the Seattle area. Most of the time I'm going to be over on the other side of the sound (bay? inlet? whatever), in the Keyport area. From my understanding, from there to SOG is about a 2 hour drive, or 1.7 hour trip via the ferry. I'm trying to work things with Ron based on my business schedule, but at best it looks like it is going to be a little short fused, catch him if he is there. Best I can do; so as much as I like to get together for some brews, it is gonna be EXTREMELY hard to plan ahead. :(

OOOOOOOPS!! Just realized that message never got sent out to Ron. Coming at you, Ron.

Vel,

I'm totally there. Someone keep this thread alive when the day and time is figured out 'cause I'd like to get together. :)

~Mitch

Hey Mitch,

You're only a 15 minute drive from SOG. I'd expect to see you here every Friday afternoon at 3:00! ;)

What's this 3:00pm stuff?

Naw, Mitch will show up every Friday at 11:30AM to enjoy cocktails and lunch with Ron on SOG's bill in the lavish SOG Executive Dining Room.

Opps,

I wasn't supposed to mention the lavish SOG Executive Dining Room with the topless wine maidens and all of that on the forum.

Well, cat's out of the bag now. Sorry.

Well, I have a Friday afternoon class this quarter so I might be a little late ;)

I hope we can all meet up at SOG one day. Ron, maybe if you can make it to the NWKC Show on Oct. 5/6 we could plan something out. I'll be walking around or behind the Bybee's table. :)

~Mitch

For entertainment, I can go "topless" ;) (the Z-Ship can do that...or "me personally" but that would be a lot less fun :footinmou ), but the SOG maiden "topless" activity unfortunately isn't going to happen (unless one of our gruffy guys from the warehouse dressed up in drag will do it for you ;) :footinmou ).

I'll show any SOG fan the best time I can when we hook up. That's a promise! :)
