POS Spyderco Ripoffs

Fellow Spyderco lovers,I must apologize.I jumped in on Dallea`s thread before reading this one, slowing down the scrolling off process .I would delete it to speed things along if I could. That kind of cheap crap is irresponsible on so many levels.A thousand pardons,oh wise Sal.

Nakano - If it is the one I'm thinking of, they've already been shut down once. However, these "business people" usually figure out a way to sell them to someone else that doesn't know they've been deemed illegal. We have actually gone after different companies for the same item.

Also one must keep in mind that if someone knowingly "blows off the integrity the first time", it is foolish to assume that they will suddenly follow an integrity when discovered.

The other day I was on an internet auction site trying to find an old colored Delica for my collection. After punching in "Spyderco" in the search engine I was directed to an auction of stainless steel Spyderco "clones" for $2.99. They even had the audacity to use the Spyderco name in the title. I guess that between the Chinese importers and misleading dealers Sal's legal dept. must be busy.

How true Sal. Perhaps this may be getting into the business/ industry side but I' m just curious to know if the makers in Seki who makes most of your companys folders, if they are in fact the same maker for the above mentioned fixed blade, have any obligation legally or otherwise to decide against such manufacturing for other companies.

Nakano - the particular makers that we use would not do that to us. This particular model was made by a company that does not usually deal with us. As I understand it, they didn't know it was an infringement. Once we sorted them out, they stopped production (I believe). The ones we are seeing are the ones that the importer promised not to sell.
