POSITIVE comments about your knives?

I used my BM 551S Griptilian to carve pumpkins with my wife, parents, nephew, etc., and I gotta say: not only was it borderline "exciting" to slice through pumpkins with ease, I got three "wow, that thing is going through that like a hot knife through butter" comments...

also, whipped it (knife) out to cut some rope at my neighbors last weekend, and he was very impressed with it, "wow, sweet blade on that thing!" and I proceeded to cut the rope as many times as I possibly could without ruining it...why? 'Cause I could.

I work at a private university but my little Boker pen knife has gotten some good feedback. There are always plenty of boxes to open and the remarks range from "that's handy" to "you must have been a Boy Scout" to "hey, that's cute" and "I should get something like that". When I carried my Native at the same job I heard "now, that's a weapon". But the little pen never raises an eyebrow. I've never had anyone call a SAK a weapon either, I guess everyone saw at leat one episode of MacGuyver.

When camping, my khukuri got comments from "why do you own something like that?" to "that's awesome!".

Some reactions that I can remember:

- about my Zero Tolerance 0200: "Man. This is soooo very wrong, soooo over the top, that it becomes great again."
- about my Spyderco Kiwi: "This is so nice"
- about my Mcusta damascus Take: "so smooth and elegant and wickedly sharp"
- about my Spyderco Caly 3: "No nonsense, but it feels perfect"
- about my Roselli Grandfather knife: "This just feels RIGHT. Between all your knives I like this one most. It's the knife that Hagar the viking would use."

My buddy after handling Busse AD: "That one is good, have heavy feel to it! (unlike all filmsy tacticle folders you ususally showing off with)"

I pulled out my Sebbie to cut some 5mm paracord type rope I was buying at a Sportsman's Warehouse and received some nice compliments on the build and design but the surprised looks I got when it sliced through so easily were even more satisfying!

Out of all my knives, when I am really fishing for compliments, I bust out the Kershaw Tyrade :o

Watching someone open a Tyrade for the frist time, and seeing the expression on their face... is great :D

"Is this legal?!"

From the gals about my Kershaw rainbow leek:

Oooooh that's awesome!! *wide eyes *
That's so pritty!!!
Wow... that's uh... sharp...

From guys:

Dang!
Can I see?

etc.

People seem to look at my Vic SAK Trekker for the longest time. Then comment how much they like it and ask where I got it.

Actually, I think most people here like their knives. The biggest problem is that we're not always been fans of other peoples' knives. In fact, I believe that's the greatest bone of contention and the one that cause more flames than anything.

Most of the knives I've purchased have exceeded my expectations. In fact, I like so many of my knives that I have a difficult time deciding which ones to carry. So like socks, shirts and ties, I don't carry the same ones all the time. My favorite carrying knife is a CS Gunsite 5-incher. I also have recently started carrying my Byrd Cara Cara. Any of the knives I own will do the job and I could easily get by with just one or two knives, period. But like most people, I don't.

What's to say that's positive? Well, they look nice and they cut. The other day I went to Gettysburg and carried my gray knife...just because it was Confederate gray! It was a CRKT M21-04.

I made short work of some extra-tough packing materials containing my mother-in-law's new cabinets with my Leatherman TTi, using the S30V main blade, the saw, the screwdriver and the pliers, she was very impressed with it and wants to buy one for her husband.

I took my CRK Aviator climbing with my brother in law, we decided to bevy for the night and he was very impressed when I used the knife to baton open some soup, saw a piece of static rope with the serrated side, and how I had my firestarter and other bits and bobs stashed in the hollow handle. He's now looking at buying a Mountaineer or Shadow to replace or augment his usual SAK.

My Busse FBM LE and NMFBM LE get compliments in the bush for their looks, chopping and all around durability, even though I always tell them I prefer a smaller blade + hatchet combo.

I EDC my HAK and have gotten many compliments about the finish and custom sizing when I pull it out of seemingly nowhere for a quick job. That being said I don't pull it out in front of just anyone.

I always get lots of oohs and ahhs from my Microtech Troodon, Kershaw fixed karambit, Benchmade 40TR bali trainer and Spyderco Smallfly bali trainer, they're fun toys and not too dangerous.

I don't have a large collection and I've chosen blades for their role so overall it's not too difficult for me to convince people I have a "need" for every one, except of course my half-dozen or so survival/combat knives which I must confess a weakness for. :)

Just before I filleted the perp, he had the presence of mind to say, "Hey, nice peanut!"

:D

My aunt admired my Busse Bony Active Duty at a cookout and said, "I need to get a nice little knife like that one."

kershaw leek - i know u said not to say this but - its sharp. opens easy left handed. like the safety feature. hope the knife gets easier to open with time. anyone know where i can get something to loosen the screws and remove the pocket clip?

Bud K gangbuster abalone handle stiletto - opens the quickest of any knife i've ever seen. sharper point then the leek.

My dad had several positive comments about my Boker Subclaw. "Handy little knife" "Neat design" "I haven't carried a knife in years, but it would come in handy every now and then".

So I gave it to him. :D

It wasn't a comment about a knife that I got knife today, but close enough.

I went out for lunch and paid with a debit card. When the waitress brought the slip back to the table I already had my pen (a Hinderer Ti kubotan pen) waiting. Most folks don't say anything about it but the waitress said "Whoa, that's a heck of a pen. Can I see it?" I handed it to her, she looked it over and gave it back, then said "That's nice, sure beats the ones they gave away at my credit union." I gave her 20% instead of 15%, even though my french fries were kinda soggy. :)

I showed my custom George Beechey with the jasper scales to the friend who introduced me to paper wheels for sharpening.
He got this stunned look on his face, couldn't stop gazing at the knife and remarked how smooth it opened.
Five minutes later he introduced me to another friend and said to me "Show him the really special one, the one that makes you realize the difference between a custom and a production knife--it's so smooth and beautiful!"
I felt good for days.

I can't say I've ever heard a positive comment from a non-knife person. I tend to hear comments when I'm carrying a slip joint like my Case canoe or stockman.

While camping a few people have commented on how my RC-3 seems to be a super useful and great looking knife.

I sometimes get positive remarks when folks see my Buck 110....

Usually it's something like "That's a nice knife", or "good looking knife", and even the occassional "Hey, my dad has a knife like that!".
