Positives / Negatives on AUTO AXIS?

Does anyone know the benifits or disadvantages of Benchmades AUTO Axis system. I know it opens the knife faster and such but anything else?

1. Anyone have any experiences with the system?

2. Also what about the laws concerning automatics, are they way more "harsh" or does it matter as long as your being conservative about your knife handling?

An axis lock opens so quickly I don't really see the need. Besides, you lose the super quick closing capacity of the axis, I imagine.
 
Unfortunately, carrying an auto knife will often get you arrested in many areas of the U.S. (though there are excepted classes of people).

Check out Mr. Levine's site as to state laws - and then check local ordinances, too.

I thought the auto-axis was a natural idea. Haven't had the chance to handle one yet, but seems it would be a step up from the usual pin-type locks to me.

You might wish to ask in the auto-knives area of the forum.
 
thanks for the reply guys. I had a feeling those knives were "more" illegal. Also I didn't know the axis locks open fast already. Thanks guys!
