Possible Spyderco's that Intrigue You

I always say this but... Framelock Civilian, PE, waved, coated blade, CB G10 handle scale.

I'd love to see automatic variants of some of Spyderco's more popular knives (Police, Military, Civilian, Endura, etc) like Kershaw/Emerson did with the Auto Commander.

I forgot one. Big Sage I - 3.25in S30V blade, G10, midlock, USA etc.
Now that one would be a peach.

The Ti millie is awesome, but I'd really like to see more knives built around the philosophy of the Manix 2, affordable, tough, and sexy.

I'd also like to see this, although I'm thinking more affordable, and US made. Frankly I was amazed at how cheap the manix 2 was. Considering it's US made, G-10 with steel liners and lots of jimping, good steel, and an unusual lock, I expected it to cost even more than the military. A big, super tough folder isn't really my thing, but a lighter, slimmer, affordable EDC blade would be, and being US made would definitely be a plus.

No it doesn't

UKPK has deeper choil, S30V, and made in USA.

So yeah, I'll take a UKPK with lock too.

It's basically the same knife. Same handle and blade shape with the same wire clip. Liners and the deeper finger choil are about the only differences. If the Caly 3 was made in Golden, it would most likely be S30V. If the UKPK was produced in Seki City, then it would most likely be VG-10. But for all intents and purposed the UKPK is a lockless Caly 3. Now if they made a Caly 3 with the drop point blade they eventually used on the UKPK! That would be a definite winner.

The trend seems to be more toward affordability. Tenacious, Manix2, etc... So my "cost cutter" recommendation would be a Taiwan produced titanium Dodo with a caged ball bearing lock and 154cm bladesteel. Street price 70-80 bucks. The Dodo sorely needs to find it's way back into the catalog anyway and this would be a "doable" way to get it back in there. Cheers.

I would love to see a dodo back in the catalog, but a Ti Dodo, even though made in Taiwan and using 154CM (which might need to be exported) would probably still cost >$150 at least.

C83 Persian Sprint Run, preferably with wood scales.
Speaking of Kopas, a clipless one, preferably with stag scales. :D

Paul

I will be in for these two. Also

I would love to see baby Persian (2.5" blade)
Caly3 with bolsters and wood or bone or stag or micarta scales
3.5" blade Caly4 G10 (almost like R2, but narrower blade)
Orange S30V Dodo, made in Golden

True 'dat. Forgot about the different steel. But the origin of production doesn't really matter, does it? Or does it?

The first thing I thought when I handled a Caly3 was "this thing is heavy".
That's after EDCing a UKPK for awhile. The linerless UKPK is much lighter.

Without derailing this thread, yes the USA option is important for many actually. Take the Sage for example, an excellent knife, but readily available because many people will choose an American knife first. Try finding the Manix2 in either configuration right now. Good luck, it's pretty much sold out everywhere because it appeals to everyone. The Manix2 is not necessarily a better knife than the Sage, but I think it's origin of manufacture makes it far more appealing, and thus, almost unobtainable. Watch when the TiMil RIL comes out, it will likely sell out instantly, and it has all the materials and features of the Sage, but it is a domestic knife.

It may not make sense, and many of you may not understand why, but there is a large population of people who prefer domestic knives. It's just a fact.

It's also half the price. :p ;)

I know what you're saying though. In all honesty I love how lightweight the UKPK is compared to the Caly3. Come on linerless version!

Exactly why I mentioned the TiMil RIL which will have an MSRP greater than the Ti Sage.

Want to bet which knife has greater sales? The $160 Taiwan Sage or the $180 American Military? Both are Ti/S30V. :)

Let's compare a standard model (Sage II RIL) and a Sprint run of a very popular (rephrase: extremely popular) knife with a first ever RIL.

Challange: Make the RIL Military a standard item and compare sales figures. :p

I buy american whenever I can, but heck, even the cigars I smoke aren't made here. :D

Are you sure the TiMil Ril is a Sprint? Look what happened to the Orange Mil. :p
