This is my first knife project in about 20 years, and I made some boo boos. Specifically, I made scratches on the blade. Some of the scratches are right up close to the scales, and some of them extend up under the scales.

For an explanation of how this happened, go to: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/878787-Introduction-and-A-Recent-Adventure

Is there any way to get the blade looking all new again?

Thanks.

hey squiddy,

from what I can see looks like a beautiful design !!

It looks as if the scales aren't complete fastened if not then it will make your job obviously much easier..

they can be removed pending how much work you're willing to put in..

if its HT'd even more work, if you have a grinder you'll have at that judging from the photos I'd start at 120 and progress from there..

If the scales are attached you'll have a LOT of hand sanding..

good luck

nail polish remover will pop the glued scales off, sand everything smooth again. Don't worry about what is under the scales just remove all the glue. You need a bit of tooth for the glue to grab onto. Make sure the front of you scales are fully finished before attaching them. I personally wouldn't use crazy glue anything to attach the scales, I would use a slower set 2 part epoxy, it gives you a bit more time to work and get the scales on straight. If that isin't an option for you only do one side at a time and be precise.

Keep in mind I am fairly new at knife making, so there are others here with much more knowledge than myself.
