Possible Western NY State get together?

I am fishing for who might be interested in a W&SS/Blade forums get together in Wyoming County of Western New York State? Myself and never too sharp were talking about a way to meet other members on the forums tonight at work, so I told him I would post a info gathering thread here. I will do it as a poll so you can show how much interest you would have. I think that mid to late July or early in August is the time frame we will shoot for. If we can get this going I will make sure it gets posted in the calender sticky thread as well. We possibly have land owned by never too sharp's family to use as a base area, with in minutes we have a 3 mile long lake named Silver lake with all types of game fish, and boat rentals. With in 5 minutes of what could be our base area there is a 17 mile long State park named Letchworth which is called the Grand Canyon of the East. There is white water rafting, camping, hiking, lots of nature and wildlife photo opportunities there as well. Please post in the poll how you feel about this gathering and also post a reply so we can maybe start a list of who would like to come. Thanks and hope this will come together and get to meet some of the members and do some learning. Doug

If we can do this I would also like to have some people do some fire building, shelter building, and trap setting as well, or other survival skills you would like to share. Thanks Doug
 
I absolutely love Letchworth park. My wife and I used to go there every summer before we moved to Albany. I've day hiked the full 17 mile length twice so far. Spectacular views!

(also, don't they hold a primitive skills fest in Letchworth around that time of year?)
 
Sounds like fun. Family obligations take priority of course but if the time is right, I'd like to participate.

We're pretty easy to get to, and it's a nice drive that time of year. In my opinion, there is no prettier country than here in the summer and fall. Right now, on the otherhand...
 
I'm very interested as the dates coincide with my summer vacation. I've spent a good deal of time in Letchworth and love it. I'd also enjoy meeting some folks around here. Maybe the Toronto/Ontario forumites might head south for this. Thanks for bringing it up Doug.
 
Looks like we have a good start to the poll. This is not just for members from Western NY. It is open to all members and their families. Keep replying the poll if you are interested, we are hoping to have a real good weekend doing this gathering. There is a good amount of land so camping will not be a problem Doug

well, dont know about being a trooper,, Just so damn bored for the last 2 years with health issues.. I really would enjoy a little road trip .
 
There is a strip and it is where we will be. It is the strip with 2 ponds on it. There is a lot of area to use. Doug

Wanted to bring this back to top, I am really up for it, I want to do some traveling about july / august and this would be perfect .
 
I'm a teacher so most dates in July or August will be good with me. If we decide far enough in advance, I can almost certainly clear my schedule. I'm looking forward to this!
