Five years and 1000 posts......Thats about a post every other day.

I sure have had a great time here on the forums.
I've learned a great deal about knives, tools, and people here.
I've made some true friends here.:D

Some observations I have made over the years:
Knifemaking is hard work...it takes a lot of elbow grease.
It is an investment in time, money, and sanity.
But it can be a whole lot of fun too!:D

My advice to any newbies:
Don't be that guy.
When asking for advice on the forums....if the first line of someones response is "I've never done this before, but..." just skip to the next post and seek out the advice of someone who has "done" it before.
Remember...there are no stupid questions....there are only stupid people!

Well, I'm looking foward to my next 1000 posts....hope you are too.:D
Good times...good times.
Mace

1000 post is just way too much outta you...:D:D:D

Congrats, bro - Here's to the next thousand!:thumbup:

congratulations mace.....did i hear you right....u said whoever has the fifth post wins an original mace vitale......ryan

No, the 6th post...he just hasn't added it! By the way, I've been on for about a year and a half and I'm almost at my #1000...maybe I'm "that guy"...if I am, I'm sorry :D

Sorry, No free knives, but I will give some more free observations and opinions.

I don't care who you are or what you do...don't forget to take the time to go to the range, hit the lake for some fishing, go for a hike, spend some time with the ones you love, pet your dog/cat...."Time is never waisted petting a cat"....,play with your kids., have fun and relax.
Take the time.

Take the time to go to a class and learn something new.
Take the time to teach someone something you have learned...you will learn twice as much.

Try and keep your feet dry, and don't forget to stock up on some ammo.;)

Well now you have asked for it. This is now the thread of a thousand opinionated philosophical thoughts by Mace.

Don't take crap from anyone(this one is at the top of the list for me)
Bulleys and A-holes NEED to be put in thier place.
Stand up for yourself, your family, and your rights!

Be honest and don't cheat(unless dealing with one of the above....there are exceptions).
Years ago some bandmates of mine and I made up our own game...the first rule was "no cheating", it was one of the best games ever just because of that rule.

Cheating is fine if your in a fight. Go for the nuts!;)

Bulleys and A-holes NEED to be put in thier place.

Spangler and I resent that.

...do I get to be the bully, or the A-hole? Both?;)

If you don't mind me adding to your list, I'd like to add another one that I struggle with:

Make yourself happy. The people around you will respond to your happiness.

Life will return to you, what you give of yourself. But, you have to make the first move; life owes you nothing. Make the most of it.
Go for the knees if you can't kick em in the nuts. It's all good.
Hope you are good for a thousand more, Mace.

Fred in bard mode:rolleyes::D

i have just reviewed your posts and it seems to be the same 15 or 20 things just re posted. :jerkit:
congradulations.
lets be honest ;you have cheated in the waffle house game, havent ,you????????;)

How dare you say that Anvilarms! I may have been faked out by "MR. Waffle", but I would never cheat regarding such serious business.

Todays lesson will echo some of Matts advice.

Make the knives that make you happy, and people will respond to your happy knives.:D

Waffle house game? Is that like the crying game?

I feel like a post whore, I think I broke 1,000 in the first 4 or 5 months:(. I resolve to make the next ones to 2,000 better).

Hmmm....seems we have a couple of people who think they might be "that guy". I wonder how many more have read this and wondered the same thing but havnt said it.
Im' not gonna say if your "that guy" or not, but I realize my post has made folks think.
It's important to look at yourself in the mirror every now and then and look at the inside more than the outside.

Matt, I know your keeping track. Please let me know when I reach 1000 opinionated philosophical thoughts.;)
