Ken, i would like to see a small jack knife in 154 cm steel. Knife would have a clip blade and bottle opener blade. Like the old autopoint knives from the 50's. It would be around 3-3,5 inches. I like my beer and don't see many knives with a opener. Scales would be g-10.
 
I like Dogleg Jacks. So how about one in A2, clip and pen, long pulls, 3.5inch closed length with black G10 scales?
 
I'm relatively new to traditionals, but lust after several. I spend most of my time looking for one elusive combination, however- any pattern with just a wharncliffe and a spey. These are my two favorite (and most often used blades). So I guess one of each of these on an equal ended jack in the 3 5/8-3 3/4 range in jigged bone and 154. (any steel would be great though-as would a trapper frame).
 
How about a two blade Canoe/Moose...3-3/4 inch closed...shared spring...ATS34...scales wormgroved honey bone...bolsters with a "pinch" on the apex and a double grove next to the scales...bolster scale line slanted...bolsters and scales slightly rounded (not as flat as example given)...scales held with two pins, rocker pin hidden...main blade Warncliff...secondary Turkish clip...Nail nicks on opposing sides...
if you sub a Turkish clip for the sheepsfoot on this one and add the other changes you'll get the idea...

Hey Ken,

Excellent idea for an inspiration giveaway. I'd like to see you do something like this. A 4 1/2" KA-BAR swing guard.

I don't believe I've seen a swing guard from your shop, though I could have missed one if you've done something similar before. This KA-BAR has jigged synthetic handles, but I think some of your latest jigged bone would be perfect. Jigged micarta would also be nice. I also think a single piece guard would improve the mechanics and I have no doubt that you could execute it perfectly. Any of your blade steels would be great, though I would personally prefer CPM154 or A2. I think a thickness of 3/32" up to 1/8" would be nice on this pattern.

I am really looking forward to seeing which pattern you select and especially the finished product.
 
You guys are making this very hard! Some great suggestions and I am leaning toward a couple. I should make a decision by Monday evening.

Here's one for ya Ken, Schrade Cut. Co. balloon pattern jack. This one's got a solid butt similar to the pruner you just did, 4 inches long with brown jigged bone covers. Bomb shield would probably work as well as the gimp. Steel would be builder's choice. Sorry for the blurry pic :o

Here are a few suggestions for some two blade knife patterns. Or a classic sleeveboard penknife shadow pattern with bone scales.

One of the greatest challenge for creators is to combine two different "flavors" and come up with a flowing finished project.

My suggestion... a gentlemen's / Texas BBQ style knife... a little bigger than typical pocket knife, and with a little more flare, but retaining a trim look;
2 blades; 1) a Texas toothpick - 3.5" long, with a sense of elegance 2) a drop point similar to Case's Slimlock, slightly heavy, possibly with an easy assist thumb stud; have to be mirror finish on the steel...
Handle - old bone / old ivory... something that indicates "classy"

How about a small Gunstock, 3" with a swedged tool steel (A2 or D2)spear main and small modified clip secondary, in peach seed jigged green bone. GEC calls the color I'm thinking of "green tea" bone.

That would be sweet!
 
There are two patterns that have always caught my eye even before I was bitten by the bug. Coffin handles and square bolstered serpentine jacks. Since I've seen someone already mentioned the mcoffin handle/coke bottle ill go with the serpentine jack.

Serpentine jack with square pinched brass bolsters, ivory (ideally ebony)~3 1/2" closed, in A2, with a sheepsfoot master and pen blade on a single spring. .... Or something along those lines :p
 
Ken, here's a lovely knife that i think many of us 'gents' would love to have in our pocket: a slim 3 3/38" Sleeveboard Pen, relatively simple, yet quite elegant.

A Manicure blade is very handy should you tear off a piece of fingernail while away from the house and this one is particularly attractive. It needs very thin top quality Stag to keep it slim and most attractive.

Thanks S-K. I have been admiring your suggestions as well, particularly the Victoria Swell-Center Serpentine Pen, a most elegant knife and so fine in the ivory.

I would love to see a powderhorn pattern knife.
Like this one, just with a Wharncliffe secondary.

Chestnut bone scales would be awesome.
 
Oooh... I like the looks of the powderhorn johnny. That would be sweet. I'd stay with the secondary pen blade but that's just my 2p.
 
Small stockman. 2 7/8" closed. Make it small, but "stout". Clip, sheepsfoot, and pen in A2 in bocote wood.
 
oFirst off, thanks for the chance and good luck at BLADE. I think a 3.5-4" jack knife similiar to the style pf the Case Texas Jack in burnt stag or some really nice popcorn stag. A2 as the steel would be nice. A main clip point blade and a smaller pen blade with the long pulls on opposite sides.

this is not an entry.
How about a moose on a congress frame 3.5 inches. 2.25 inch sheeps foot and spear blades. (opposing of course) square bosters with nice and textured but thin stag. and long match striker pulls.
A2 steel.if your feeling even more adventurous how about some brass bolsters.
