Greetings,
The round is 5.5" by 6" long and the other one is the same but cut length ways. They both are 4140 and professionally HT to 60 RC.

Any thoughts about how to arrange them for a post anvil. Should they be in separate posts or together? Should the post be concrete, sand or something else.

Pictures and suggestions requested. I have 2 sets, picture links below (I hope it works).

It would have been far better for you to have left that as one 24" piece. That is water under the bridge now. The rounds can be mounted on sturdy bolted up stands made from 2X12's. They should nest in the timbers at the top, and leave about half of the length exposed. You would be best to make separate stands for each round.
An alternate is to place each one in a drywall bucket of concrete with 3" exposed.

The half rounds are problematic as far as stability in use, and won't really work as flat anvils. They will make good door stops.

I really tried to reply last night, but my computer went wonky fritzo...

I like them paired together as-is... Just how they lay... You get both a radius for drawing out/ shaping and a dead-flat forging surface for flattening. That whole piece round with a chunk cut out of it would mimic that of a shelf on a real anvil to boot. You can sink it into concrete, a hardwood stump, or fabricate a stand, it's really personal preference as long as it's well seated into some immovable object...

I'd put one pair by the forge and one where you do most of your assembly for minor cold work, pinning, etc... I need a little bench anvil like that in the worst way...
