post apocalyptic knife

Recently finished post apocalyptic knife.
The blade is forged of scavenged barbed wire on a 5160 core. The handle is more of stacked leather and antler.

Very nice!!! but you should thermal cycle to refine the grain a bit next time ;)
Seriously, i like it very much, did you weld it into a canister with powder or just added borax and beated the bundle?

What?? Do you think it didn't have enough thermal cycles, through the many hours I spent forging it?? Well now...
I just beated the bundle, without borax. That damn molten borax just gets in the way, flying around in the shop, lighting stuff up. I hate it!
 
It is a beautiful pattern!!
You didn't use borax, but did you use a closed canister to weld the wire?
