Local flooding has clipped my wings a little over the past few weeks, and I’ve not been able to get over to see ADEE (who some will know from the ‘Old Knives’ thread) and ScruffUK (who some will know from the ‘Where Are They Now?’ thread) since long before Christmas. They live in the same county as me, and despite continuing bad weather, I travelled over to see them both yesterday, and to exchange post-Christmas Christmas presents.

ScruffUK kindly gifted me this Boker Trapper. I really like Boker knives, but they’re strangely elusive in Europe, and I don’t have many Trappers, so the gift was especially welcome. I’m looking forward to using this one.

ADEE thoughtfully gifted me this IXL Serpentine Jack, a pattern I really like. I actually have an older version of this knife with blades ground down to a nub. I think the clip has been shortened a bit, but ADEE has done a lovely job of restoring this knife, which has a carbon steel clip, and a stainless pen blade. Nifty little pouch too :)

Also, in the post yesterday, I received this limited edition 3-blade Canoe from Scrteened Porch. It was made in 1978 by the amalgamated Sheffield firms of Joseph Rodgers and George Wostenholm for the US National Knife Collector’s Association. This is the first time I’ve even handled a 3-blade Canoe, and it’s an interesting pattern. A former brother-in-law of mine was one of the last apprentices to work for Rodgers-Wostenholm, and he commenced his apprenticeship in 1978. It was a good year for me too! Thanks a lot Jer, for a very interesting piece of cutlery history.

- very nice, Jack..........very lucky fella  :)

The Serpentine Jack is particularly nice, great shape and form

Very sorry you guys are having so much grief with the rain up north, terrible thing to happen.

I got flooded out many years ago when I lived in the tropics, but hey, it was warm the whole time, so not so bad.

Hope you all get sorted asap and it becomes a fast fading memory

Looks like a fun post-Christmas gathering Jack ! Nice gifts they are !:thumbup:

Hope it stops raining there soon for you guys. The rain finally let up here about a week ago. :)

Well, I thought my post Christmas was a Madison Barlow with a pen and clip blade from gec. But then I stumbled across a double blade Davison, nearly identical to what I was going to have him make me in a couple months, for sale here so I jumped on it. Happy happy dude here right now lol

Nice gift you got there! I didn't know a traditional was ever offered with one carbon and one stainless blade, it is an interesting concept.

Vey nice Jack.

Thanks Randy :)

Thanks my friend, maybe we'll even get a decent summer this year ;)

Very nice Jack. I especially like the Canoe. Or, would that be called a gunship?

LOL! Yes, maybe! :D A good time for either certainly ;)

Edit - Doh! Sorry, long day here! Gunboat. I was actually in bed when the penny dropped! :o

Thank you sir, I hope you're all dried out now

Thanks Ernie :) They were (I'll edit in a pic later), but in this case it may just be that they were using up old blades

EDIT - EG:

Nice gifts, especially the IXL, worth a nice couple of pints after the rain! :D

Thanks JP :) Both myself and ScruffUK are having a month on the waggon, so we had to settle for coffee  :D

A good post Christmas indeed!! All great pieces and now I know you are a Boker man:D I don't own any Bokers but have always fancied a few. Good you got to see ADEE and Scruff. I hope they are well!

Funny Boker doesn't sell Bokers in Europe.
I have a Schrade stockman with an extra blade that has a stainless main blade and the rest carbon. I should look it up sometime and see if they did it on purpose.
Great bunch of knives!

I fear you'll shock your systems in that wet weather. I would advise switching to more rarefied spirits to dissipate the damp and cold humours.
(I'm not a doctor, but that doesn't stop me imagining I know more than they do.)

Very nice Mr. Jack. Nice looking handles on that Boker and very nice three blade canoe also.

Thanks a lot gents  Both ADEE and Scruff are well :) Boker's European distribution does seem rather strange. According to Andi (Humppa) they're even harder to get hold of in Germany! I have a Treebrand Stockman, and this series seem to represent good value for money :)

Jack Sir, man some beauties - is the Boker Rams Horn = looks it?
I really love that I*XL Serpentine Jack! and Screened's Canoe is a beauty as well - ALL knives you just do not come across on a daily basis that's for sure!

Nicely done folks for looking after Jack!

It's great that you finally got to celebrate a little with your friends, Jack!
Merry Christmas all over again!
I hope the waters recede, and everything improves over there! I am glad you live on a hill!
To remind us of our mortality here, we had a small but notable earthquake a few days ago, and the scientists remind us we live near some interesting geological faults!
I woke up thinking a truck had hit my house!!! Knocked the pictures over on the piano!!

Thanks a lot Duncan. I wondered that when Scruff first showed it to me, but it's actually - bone made to look like ram's horn I reckon ;) :D

Very nice stuff! I really like that french ivory stuff.

Thank you. French Ivory can look very good
