Post Finishing cleaner???

Guys,

What do you recommend for a cleaning handles after finishing work is complete? Particularly something to easily remove buffing compound. I've tried several things, and still feel that I am working too hard to get things cleaned up.

It depends a lot on the handle material, but I usually use Acetone or denatured alcohol on synthetics, and then some type of oil (WD40 or mineral oil). The Acetone gets rid of buffing compound very quickly, but it can dry out natural materials.
 
I clean off any adhesives from masking tape with acetone or denatured alcohol. After that I just wash them with mild hand soap and water.
 
I've found that with the right technique buffing is almost a self cleaning process.

That said, Renaissance Wax does a great job of cleaning off residual buffing goo...
 
I've been using Mothers Car Wax with carnauba wax in it. It does a great job of taking off any buffing compound gunk still on the knife. Then buff off the knife when the wax is dry. I keep a dedicated soft buffing wheel for this job. On the other side of the buffer I have a clean sisal wheel. It's great for reaching down into nooks and crannies and getting wax out, such as on stag, or even filework. I work almost exclusively in natural materials and this system works very well for me. I wax the whole knife by the way.
 
I use goop handcleaner, available at Walmart in the auto section and then apply a paste wax finish
