Post here when you get your BFC 2006 CS ring knife.

I picked mine up on Saturday. I have to admit, I wasn't completely convinced about our choice of 3" pen knife with nail file, but this is now one of the coolest knives I own. The stag is not only beautiful but more well matched than any other stag knife I have. I'm also blown away by the fit and finish.

I hope everyone's little ring knife is as nice as mine. Thanks again to Gus and everyone else who helped make this happen.

Oh by the way it's #17.

Number 18 is safe in its new home in Bushkill Pa. Thank you very much and I am looking forward to the next one.

I was ambivalent about a nail file myself, (still am) but I'm very happy I got my 1st ring knife after seeing it. The only thing I would have added to it would be a nail nick in the blade. Just gives it another way to open the blade, if one didn't want to use the ring at times. Just my $.02.

I agree, mine could use a nail nick. I hate to say it, but mine is a little stiff and the first couple of times I opened it, I was afraid I'd break the ring off. :(

One thing that I forgot in my review was that there was a lot of grinding dust or maybe graphite in mine. I cleaned it out, flushed it with oil, cleaned again to get a nice crisp action.

Gus, I've been working it, cleaned and oiled it, it is still the stiffest knife I have.
I doubt I'll ever be able to easily open this knife with the ring.

I've never had one of these & after playing with it for awhile, I was wondering how that ring would hold up over time. That's another reason I thought the nail nick would have been nice.......just in case. Maybe it isn't necessary, but also having the option to open it that way would only enhance this fine little knife. Again, not complaining at all. Just offering my own afterthought. I have no regrets at all getting this.

Well, there's a lot of old English ones still kicking around, so I imagine these should hold up pretty well.

Do you know if a nail nick was commonly seen on them? I noticed in another thread on 2 older ring knives that both have it.

Hmmm, I'm not sure to be honest. I think I've got one or 2 in my collection. I'll see if I can find them & let you know.

Got mine last week............. craftsmanship is  top notch.

Spark got his today.

He sends thanks.

Wowza I picked up number 11 and number 33 at the post the other day!!
Awesome little knives.................thanks again Gus!

No. 28 has just landed on my desk! :)

Nice knife. Tight snap - I can't close it on the rings, but then I expect you would close them like an ordinary slippie anyway.

Nicely packaged from CS, the box even has the number on it (or was that you, Gus?)

There are a couple of very, very minor imperfections - so minor that it's probably me being over picky. The grind on the main blade swedge is very slightly wavey, and there's a small gap between the RHS of the blade & the bolster when the blade is open.

The Sambar Stag is very nice - I see now why you lot keep banging on about it. ;)
The finish overall is very good, I really can't fault it.

All in all, I agree with the rest of you & I'm happy to go with CS for this year's knife.

I will try & take some decent pictures over the next day or 2 to show mine off!

That is great news.
I always have concern over long shipments :D.

As far as the knives. No the boxes or knives. They were left the way they came (except for Kevin's #1 and #2 which I sent to GigOne for all his help and efforts over the last couple of months). I only opened about 3 or 4 to look at them. Turned the labels down and packed the boxes then labeled them. I kept the two left over.

I happened to come arcoss this thread...nice knife. How does one go about getting one of these? And is #23 available?

Way cool little knifeThanks Gus and Ed.
Now if I can figure out how to open it I will be OK
