post office rant

she also had me cross out "British Columbia Canada", because it wasn't all in caps. I had it neatly typed out but she made me cross the whole thing out and hand write "BRITISH COLUMBIA, CANADA" all in caps. Yeah lady, looks much better now.

The next time she tells you to do something that inane, refuse. "No, Ma'am, I won't do that. Unless you can show me something in writing that requires me to do that, we'll send it as is. If you won't, then let's get your supervisor to explain it to me."

You'd think the supervisors know, but possibly not. Has ANYONE ever brought this to the attention of the Postmaster of that facility?

.

Returned my SIG GSR today, for the second time. On the Postage paid UPS mailing label SIG E-mailed me, the contents are called "machined parts."

"Rolled steel barstock."

;)

FWIW, there's a company that sells stick-on labels by teh 100's that are pretty reasonable. Then you can print the paid Priority labels right onto it. I don't go to the PO for much anymore. Just slap that label on my Priority package and off to the box it goes.

Wouldn't work for int'l packages, but sure nice for domestic. :)

I ALWAYS hate it when I get this one particular clerk.

I was shipping off a Sage Game Warden to somebody in Canada. So she gets out this thick book to see if "weapons" are allowed to be shipped into Canada. I asked her "you think a knife is a weapon?" Her reply, "yes". I said, "wow, really?" Then I said "how about a kitchen knife"? I also asked her if she thought a Swiss Army knife was a weapon, and she said "yes". How about a sharpened pencil? She said "could be".

Wow! :barf:

As if I wasn't annoyed enough, she also had me cross out "British Columbia Canada", because it wasn't all in caps. I had it neatly typed out but she made me cross the whole thing out and hand write "BRITISH COLUMBIA, CANADA" all in caps. Yeah lady, looks much better now. :barf:

sheesh.... I cringe when I get her. I get along with 99% of people, but this gal really tweaks me.

I let people in go in front of me specifically to avoid a particular clerk in my area. She told my freind as I stood next to him that "media mail had to be this thick" holding up her thumb and index finger. thats right, not a measurement, but a general size shown by a persons fingers. In reality media mail has to be 13 pages or more. I do no trust her to handle my mail.

One of the post offices I occasionally use has a guy that I avoid just because of issues like this-- I don't think a person deserves to get grilled on the shipment of knives or to have to offer up further explanations for what 'camp tools';) are.
OH- I have also called them 'kitchen gadget' and 'fruit peeler'.

Vegetable peeler/corer, game skinner, spade (with an edge! LOL), camping tool, kitchen utensil, agricultural tool, gardening utensil... & USPS employee 'motivational tool' (just kidding!! ;))... But NOT a weapon. :D

I've got one out here that doesn't like to see TAPE reinforcing the adhesive on USPS shipping boxes..."This is wrong, go home and start over"......

That one would hate me... I don't just use tape to reinforce the adhesive... On smaller Priority boxes, I'll freakin' COVER 'em in tape, LOL ...Hard to explain an accidentally opened box when referring to my packages, heh-heh. :D

One guy at my PO is nice enough but a very loud fellow. By the time your done with mailing everyone in line knows your business. Solstice can probably vouch for that. I actually ran into Solstice at the PO once, we were both sending off a knife we sold here LOL

Yep! What gimmerjr said!

What can you really do? You play the game, or do some of the things suggested that don't involve dealing with a "live" person. I mean really...it's a freaking government job, they have it for life!

Just don't get too creative with listing the contents.... That can create trouble for the Canadian buyer. Canadian customs needs to know the catagory of the contents to properly assess whether or not any duty is applicable. "Cutlery" works just fine too, FWIW.

But I agree, I would voice your concerns to the postmaster. It is really none of the clerks business what you ship or how you ship it.

I like setting off the alarm on a quiet Saturday morning.

I just wish the dumb a$$e$ would get my mail in my P.O. Box in the same general month that it was mailed.

I got a handful of bills today that were due last week.

Try explaining that to them soul-less ba$!@^d$ at the credit card company financing your Busse collection.
