Post Office theft?

The postal service is federal jurisdiction, how about we don't waste Law Enforcement resources where he lives.

You can listen to ron_m80 if you wish, but I am an LEO and would recommend filing a report with your local Sheriff's Office or Police Department at the very least. If they can't help you they will put you in touch with someone who can, and the report would be on file should it be needed by the USPIS. And on top of that, this might not be an isolated incident and your local LE may have similar cases. At the very least I'm sure they'd appreciate the info in case anyone else has a similar issue in the future.

And just a side note, we've investigated mail fraud/theft issues in the past. Waiting on the federal govt usually gets you nowhere quickly.

In the relatively few instances when i have sold a knife, i have shipped it USPS, insured, in a very well taped up Priority box, and with tracking. What has concerned me about insurance is that the sticker showing insurance and the cost of postage paid, informs everyone that the contents are valuable. An uninsured Priority small box might have $5.95 postage showing, but if insured for say $1000, the postage showing might be about $22. Likely postal employees can therefore deduct the approximate value of it's contents. Is this not likely to make the insured package a target for the few postal employees that are looking to steal ?

FWIW, Express Mail and, for that matter, anything with Delivery Confirmation, have to be scanned by the person delivering them when they deliver them. The computers they have in the trucks, at least down here, are slower than molasses in January, so their spending three or four minutes in front of you house may not mean what you think it means. My carrier winds up doing that several times a month, at least.

I've had this exact same thing happen to me as well. I'd love to know your outcome. My case was never resolved.

I did end up contacting the cops and the man that delivered my package is currently under investigation, he claims that the box was not opened when he gave it to me when in fact I know it was. If he were to admit to the box being open then I could of atleast got the insurance money out of it but since its my word against his I most likely wont get anything. Its sad that now you dont even get ripped off by the sender, you get ripped off by the actual company that is delivering it.

You can listen to this guy if you wish, but without evidence, witnesses, or a suspect, good luck on that report buddy.

Sounds like he did listen to me, and an investigation underway.., granted the likelihood of finding the knife is slim. It never hurts to have a report on file. My dept just took 18 burglary reports with no suspect/evidence, however, the 19th burglary did lead to 2 suspects who later confessed to all 19 burglaries...

Ron_m80, If not for your initial snarkiness, I wouldn't have felt the need to respond, but let's not derail the thread with our back and forth.

To the OP, good luck to you. And if you have any questions feel free to email me.

I sent two knives long ago to someone on the forum, i cannot remember which one. Anyways, i sent an Emerson CQC7 and a Benchmade Griptillian. I waited for some time but the buyer never received anything. I dont know if the buyer got it and lied OR the postman stole it. The punchline is ALWAYS insure it and/ or get a tracking number!

To cover all bases.
Signature Confirmation™ Service Delivery Status is a good idea too, imo.
