I've developed a hankerin' for a doctor's knife, don't have one yet, post a pic of yours?

Thanks.

I think the Doctor's Knife is a very classy pattern. Would love to know more about it. Got my first Doctor's Knife recently, a Kastor & Co (Solingen) :)

Sorry double-tap, my internet connection is terrible today :(

Jack, thank you- your original post of that knife is the reason I got a hankerin'

Queen Classics Doctor's Knife. This one made after Queen was purchased by Mr. Daniels, and has a pinned in shield. I too like the pattern... the word elegant comes to mind :-)

Here's my two. Never cared for the spatula, but am always looking for the right one with a pen secondary.

I think I was very lucky to find that one, it's the first old Doctor's Knife pattern I've seen on sale here :)

^ That's a nice one Robin, think I've admired it before

Thanks Jack, It's well built and pointier than the norm. I Love that old Kaster of yours with the pill crusher bolster.

Have a great day my friend.

Thanks a lot Robin.

And you sir :)

This Robt Klass pattern is lumped into the Doctor's Knife category in Levine's book (per the only online discussion I have ever found on it). Apparently it came in "bail" and "no bail" versions.

ETA: I finally found the modern knife it reminds me of....

With both of my grandfathers having been small town doctors, I'm a little disappointed that I haven't seen one of these pop up. It is possible that one of my cousins snagged one without my knowing at some point. I may have missed it but what eras were these regularly used for for their intended purpose?

Here's a single blade made by Mike Alsdorf that got away from me. I wish I'd kept it.

I've got an Alsdorf that is almost identical to the one Gary just posted, so I won't post it again. Mike Alsdorf makes a fantastic doctor's knife.

Here is a Rick Menefee prototype doctor's knife with some incredible old Remington bone:
