Are they quite a bit heavier than the standard G10 versions? I've never held any of the fluted Spydercos to be able to compare.

They are noticeably heavier but not too much for me. Not enough to keep me from carrying them. The big thing is that they are both contoured as opposed to the flat g10 used on the standard versions. This makes them extremely comfortable in the hand for me. It is really a trade off and I own and carry both versions. I have a cruwear Military and a Forum Native that I also carry and I like them just as much.
