I really need to get more pics of axes done.

i LOVE the oxhead. The steel rings loudly and stays ringing for about 5 seconds. very high quality German steel. I have the large felling ax. The one pictured is an insurance replacement afte rmy other one got knicked from the truck.

A Wetterlings LHA and a Fiskars handy 600. The Fiskars is a great beater. I bought the KaBar out of curiosity. It's not very good :o

Are those Ka-bars carbon or stainless?
They certainly look nice.
I really don't need another axe/hatchet ( i'm into double digits now  )
but.... i want a leather handled hatchet.
probably will just get a small Estwing.

Wow. Now THAT'S and AXE! I only have an Estwing Hatchet.

Um ... I was just on this other website I hang out on, and when you asked for pictures of my axe, I started loading up a couple of shots of my Fender... :o

After 55 years or so of chopping wood we have a lot of axes laying around I don't know what kind they are but as long as they are sharp they all seem to work about the same. The only full size ax I use anymore is a Estwing. I have several light weight hatchets for camp chores The most used are a Estwing and a Fiskars/Gerber. I have several Hawks.

I wouldn't say it's my most used hatchet/axe, but this Bahco is my most-carried and definitely one of my favourites:

Back home I've got a full sized Estwing that stays in the truck, a couple of newer Gronfors-Bruks that I haven't really used much yet, and about half a dozen various Iltis Oxhead axes scattered about in convenient places (for chopping firewood). Most of the Oxheads have been re-handled by an old guy down the street who re-handles everyone's axes in town.

It's stainless with 0,3% carbon and 13% chrome, hardness 52 - 54 HRc. Doesn't hold an edge and the ergos are poor, the pommel's sharp corner bites hand. The stock is 0.150 making it very slim indeed, not much weight for power, convex edge...what else...

It's my opinion that You and Fonly will be much better served with other choices.

It's very light and does have a nice look to it though :)
