Post pictures of your buck oddities

Not sure how odd this is either, but I thought it odd wjhen I got it. It's an Alaskan Guide 110 with no stamp at all.

Mike, that is odd that there is no Buck stamp on the knife. Matter of fact, thats as odd as they come. With the exception of the wrong # on a blade. Wait I have one of those.
This is a Liberty acrylic and the # on it is supposed to be 829( I think) but this one says 525*... go figure. They say the * means a production line change of some sort.

Here is a 1991 Limited Edition Blue Bovine Bone Buck 312 serilized to 1500 pieces. The catch is there are at least 4 or 5 variations of this knife. This knife was released for the American Blade Collectors Association, and never made again, so how there are different variations is unexplainable. 300 Bucks has the other variations and maybe he will post them as well.

The first one posted has a serial # with a prefix of L and the #1079. The second variation just has the # 0196. I believe 300 Bucks can add to this and I hope he will step in, People round here stop and listen when he speaks...

This is a ONE of a Kind and the ONLY BUCK Knives made M9 Damascus Bayonet #40. Hand made by Leroy Remer.
It has a DOUBLE stamp. It was made for Harry Camphuysen of PHROBIS . He was born in 1940 so that is why it's #40

One of the only inverted stamped 1986 date coded BuckMasters. Est. less than three that slipped through the system.

ONLY because they are all out to go on an adventure. Some of their brothers and sisters were camera shy. 300
top left to right: serial # begins with L, these were for ABCA lifemembers, regular four digit serial number, bolsters engraved, no serial #. Bottom: just blue bone, likely over run. Black smooth scale in center.......There are at least 5 other 312 versions, I don't have them all....but I do have the Yellowhorse.

Thanks 300, I guess that you figured out the mistery of the L prefix is for life members? the last time we talked about these we hadn't had that info... Good to know...

Strange things happen, again maybe who ever was working on that knife wanted to go to the company Christmas party...(instead of working)

How many do you see that was not sharpened?

Here's the 192 Vanguard from the latest Web Specials.

Double strike on the ATS-34, no BOS logo and no model #. Not sure if the BOS mark should be there or not but shouldn't it have the model stamped?

Thats why it was SPECIAL, LOL... I love these

Don't have pictures of it, but there's a pawn shop on Government Way in Coeur d'Alene, not far from me, that has had several dozen knives from an old estate collection on display for some months now.

On the top shelf, along with a number of custom 110s, there's a Buck/Mayo TNT. There's no mistaking that it's a TNT. Nobody that I know of has ever done a rip-off of that design.

But there is no stamp of any kind, not even "BUCK" on the blade. There is no sign that it's been ground or polished off. The knife is in really good shape, smooth opening, well balanced, exactly like the one Chuck Buck was carrying a couple of years ago at the factory inventory sale.

No stamp. Nothing. Just a fine, but unlabeled knife.

I was ready to buy it when I first saw it, but I just couldn't bring myself to spring the cash without some kind of provenance.

Far as I know, it's still there.

I'll have to check the pawn shops again, my son makes me drive him to all of them in his search for vintage video games. I occupy my time by looking for Buck knives of course! There are a few shops on government way but I havent seen one with a Buck collection...I'm getting antsy now!

Don't know if these would be considered oddities or not, but there sure aren't very many of them. These were SFOs made for J C Penney Co. around 1980. They were available around Christmas in consecutive years. That's all I remember about them other than I've had them in my display case all this time, along with about seven or eight true David Yellow Horse 112s. If any of you remember or have additional information on these, the Mule Deer and the Elk, I'd sure appreciate you sharing it with me. Thanks

Edited to add: Even though they were aquired one year apart, the tang marks are identical (two dot 110 two dot) as show in the photo.

Paul

Knife World just did an article on the etching company that embellished these.

I love the oddly stamped blades and this one is my favorite! Date code is 1995. This knife came back to Buck through the warranty department so it was actaully sold like this.
I like it becuase knowing how we set up our stamping operations, I have no clue how this one could have even been done! :)
Great thread by the way!

Joe, buck should make more like that... That's really cool... One out of every 500 ... ... ITE

Now theres a thought...every so often, mistamp one like this. Do it on every model so that would get everyone (myself included) looking for the complete set of "Oops" knives! The collector in me likes the idea but I know the shop will throw me out if I suggest it to them. :)

Looks like somebody worked pretty hard to get that one stamped the way they did.

I hope they got a good price for it.

;)
