Greetings!

Long story short: I'm on my 6th week of recovering from my appendix rupturing and crazy complications. Found out today that I'll need another surgery, likely tomorrow. I feel like I've exhausted the internet for entertainment. I've watched movies, shows, etc... I've rewatched most of my Ray Mears stuff, and have already seen all of Bears and Stroud's stuff. I watched a few episodes of Naked and Afraid, but it seemed pretty weak. I've been digging around Youtube, but wanted to ask for peoples recommendations. I've got at least two more weeks of recovery. I love bushcraft/primitive skills/techniques. Any shows/channels out there that are worth while?

I started researching some new knives, but that proved to be an expensive venture, so I ordered a new Flashlight to keep my entertained gear wise (ThruNite Neutron 2A V2 and a Sunnwayman V11R, will keep the one I like best).

Thanks!

I feel your pain.. and you've been in recovery during the nice weather... that sucks.. that was me last year.. same time of the year too.. yuck... I unfortunately watched tons of movies, and sat around A LOT. Sleep and movies.. Yup, no real suggestions.. I was able to walk very slowly after about a week and for the next few weeks walking slowly, sleep, and watching movies was life.. BORING and frustrating during summer.. You'll be through it before you know it and winter will be here.. ugh, winter in Oregon :D

Start reading, or sketching... gl!

Had a baby recently and was off work 5 weeks. I got into sharpening and literally ran out of things to sharpen. It was satisfying and passed a lot of time.

Thoughts and prayers for quick recover. Anything funny will benefit you. Actually changes the chemistry in your body and will pass time, heal, and feel better.

Heal up quick,
I go in for Carpal Tunnel and Cubital Tunnel surgery tomorrow! So how about a round of smoke and good thoughts for each other.

On the entertainment side. Get a few good books! I read this book awhile ago.

http://www.amazon.com/Back-Fight-Explosive-Special-Operator/dp/1250010616 he's a top shooter with a prosthetic leg.

Very inspiring book! There are Millions of good books on different topics and all you need is a little light to read. No batteries required!

Also looking at blue screen late into the night screws up your sleep pattern. I read after about 10pm and I get better rest which helps you heal.

Learning to use game calls will open up a lot of untapped video material on YouTube. Might annoy whoever you live with to death though:D

Learn a new, relevant skill - net making, basket making, arrow making, brush up on your knots, learn some new utility/medicinal plants, learn more in-depth primitive navigation techniques, compile a list of primitive trap triggers, go to Hoods Woods and order some videos (all the ones I have are excellent).

Doc

When I was laid up after surgery on my hips/legs i bought a deck of those playing cards that have all kinds of different knots and learned how to do many of them. Also made some paracord braclets to give to all the nurses and Doctors.
I wish you the best for your recovery.

Check out Westerns on the Web .com

I had the same problem July 4th 2001. It was 13 hours before they did surgery. They had to do it twice. I was very lucky and lived but spent about 2months reclassifying artifacts I had dug in the 1970's. I found tiny interesting things with a magnifying glass I had never seen before. I feel your pain!!!

Anyway, shortly after, I found the site above and have been enjoying western shows and movies from my childhood ever since. They are free!

As one who loves the Winds, I found this video an interesting watch.

This CDT hike video is nice watch, very good scenery and well done. http://vimeo.com/23740576

If you are into reading, "The Final Frontiersman" is about Heimo Korth. Very interesting read on the realities of wilderness living and trapping.

Vice did a video about Heimo Korth here:

For more reading on living in Alaska, "More Readings From One Man's Wilderness" is good, containing a large collection of Dick Proenneke's journals. Not a good straight-through read but it is excellent for reading a few pages at a time. I personally like it much more than "One Man's Wilderness" although that one is a nice classic read as well.

That's what I can think of off the top of my head. Hope you are in good health soon!
