Here's mine a .338 Winchester Mag, Model 70. Doesn't kick nearly as bad as I'd feared. (considering it's a necked down to .33 caliber .458 Win Mag)

Here's the biggest pistol I shoot -- Ruger Super Blackhawk in .44 Mag with a 7.5" barrel:

Cool thread!

I have shot numerous 50s ranging from the 50 Whisper up the the 50BMG. But as far as shooting on a regular basis it would be my wildcat 450 Alaskan that gets shot most often. Built on a Browning 71 action, it uses .348 brass necked up to .458.

My normal load for this is a 500 grain cast at 2200fps giving it a TKO factor of 72.1 or equal to the 458 Winchester Magnum. I also own a double rifle in 9.3X74R which is close to 375 H&H and a custom Browning BAR in 357/338, another wildcat which is the equal of the 375H&H but in a very controllable semi-auto. In pistol my large bore is the 460S&W.

I know...lol...I owned one but between the noise (neighbors close to the range), limit range distance (200 yards), and ammo cost I just couldn't see keeping it. If I had a 1000 yard range available I would buy one again but anything closer just isn't fun with the big gun.

I'll stick with my "little" guns...lol...tho I am thinking hard about a 500 Whisper to go with my 300 Whisper...just for fun!

Not the biggest round, but this little 5 pound, sub-3 foot .243 by New England Arms has a lot of punch for it's size. Excellent open sights out of box dead on. (it's the youth model) I like it for deer in heavy brush and it's just a really cool little rifle.

.416 Rigby for me. I used this case to kill my first deer. I was hunting with a group of friends and did not have a deer rifle at the time and all that was available was this beast (my friend is a big African game hunter as well). It was not nearly as bad as I had expected in terms of kick. Killed the deer with no more damage than a lesser caliber.

The photo is a comparison of the .416 Rigby on the left, .308 Winchester, .223, and a .22 for size comparison.

I fired a .460 Weatherby once...Once. I'm a pretty big guy, and am not very recoil-shy, but that .460 is a thing to behold..

This is the biggest one I ever shot. 8 inch guns USS Saint Paul CA-73.

That is a complicated question. The biggest I own is a Ruger Super Blackhawk in .44 mag. I also own a TC .30 Herret. The real answer is I was actually able to fire an XP100 that this guy rebored and rebuilt to fire a .458 Win mag. What a gun. He eventually went all the way and rebored and built it in .460 Weatherby. I swear to god. I didn't ever get a chance to fire the .460 weatherby but he built it for Silhouette shooting. They made him stop using it because he was destroying the metal target. This was back when I worked in the gun store around '81 or '82 if I remember. The biggest rifle I ever fired was the .458 win mag. The biggest I ever owned was a .220 swift. I have no rifle bigger than a .22 now. I would love to someday get a .50. I love big bore but I doubt that will happen. I am someday going to get either a S&W .460 or maybe a .500.

What do you think of yours Ren? Accuracy and controllability?

Kinda related to the topic (considering the large calibers), the wonderful TSA has determined on their own that any caliber above .50 is to dangerous to allow to be on a plane, so if you are planning a once in a life time hunting trip to Alaska or Africa; check your contacts for alternate methods of ammo shipping. NRA is fighting it, but you know fighting for your rights is expensive and time consuming.

I didn't think about my military service...lol. I can add 155 arty and 4.2 mortars to that.

As far as Africa goes it really isn't a problem unless you are toting one of the extreme dangerous game rifles in 500 Nitro or larger or plan on pulling a stunt and hunting dangerous game with a pistol. Most African rifle are under 50 caliber and I bet if you showed up with your McMillan 50BMG your pro's gunbearers are going to take one look then take a powder...lol. No one wants to carry one of those around. Seriously I do hope the NRA is able to educate the TSA but I doubt it. If it is a problem consider flying a foreign carrier like Lufthansa.

the largest rifles i shoot much now are a .264 win mag and a 7 rem mag, the largest ever was a .375 H&H which really wasnt TOO bad lol,

Mine is a Beretta AL391 Urika Teknys 20ga semiauto. Present for my 13th birthday. Sure, it's not a huge caliber, but with it's 30" barrel, it's a pretty big gun.

It's so long in fact, that I have a hard time tracking clay targets with it. Anybody know where I can get a 24 or 26" barrel for it, preferably with a fiber-optic and screw-in chokes?
