I was riding my horse up in the Snowy Mountains several years ago, nowhere near any roads or tracks, and came across a shopping trolley. To this day I have no idea how or why a shopping trolley would end up in such a place. Weird.

While riding around in the bush in Canberra a while ago I came across two very solid fence posts with a locked gate in between them. The weird thing is that there was no sign of any fence either side of the gate. Just a locked gate in the middle of the bush.

First thing we see in the sky is something moving many times faster than any normal jet that suddenly comes to a dead stop. After about ten seconds it then takes off at a 90 degree angle from where it stopped, again moving way faster than any jet or satellite I've ever seen. Eventually disappears.

I think I've seen the same thing! It appeared to be far away, like a satellite as you said. But it moved very fast and very erratically, sometimes stopping for a minute or two. My GF at the time actually saw it first, and her mom on the other side of town saw it too. I saw it on two or three different nights, always in the same general area of the sky.

No, I'm not a UFO loonie. I'm sure there's a perfectly reasonable explanation for it. But it was pretty spooky.

Probably my friends from Venus, they keep losing their way to my place all the time. Apparently they have a bad sense of direction.

I was thinking more along the lines of a super-secret CIA spy satellite that can read minds. Hence, the SS-heat-treating-foil-lined horned helmet.

I was fighting a brushfire this week and found a burned up JETSKI out in the middle of nowhere... I assume that it was stolen and dumped out there. There were also three cars and a boat trailer littered amoung the 250 acres that burned.

A friend and I were camping in the desert on the edge of a dry lake just north of the big military base near 29 Palms. There are other military bases to the north in both CA and NV. We were sitting around in the evening without a fire because it was a warm summer night. First thing we see in the sky is something moving many times faster than any normal jet that suddenly comes to a dead stop. After about ten seconds it then takes off at a 90 degree angle from where it stopped, again moving way faster than any jet or satellite I've ever seen. Eventually disappears.

We speculated about a possible test of a very fast pulse jet or the like. When it appeared to stop, it could have been just climbing vertically away from us.

Later, we saw several lights over the nearby foothills, moving at helicopter speed and behaving like you would expect choppers to behave. But not a single sound---AT ALL. We assumed the military must have been testing some new prototype stealth helos or the like.

And before you ask, my friend saw exactly what I saw and he doesn't drink at all!

I have seen both of these occurances in the south Texas desert. Both of them occured on a ranch next to another ranch (10,000 acres) used as a Naval boming range. Place is located a few miles west of Freer Texas. I figured it was a top secret military project.

Well apparently it's not much of a secret anymore, if we're seeing them all over the country. Weird. I bet the Coast-to-Coast AM folks would have some "info" on this...

As for me, I'm keeping my hat on. And if the men in black show up at my place tomorrow, I'll know you guys narked me out!! :grumpy:

Living near the mexican border I've found some odd things when out wandering from a dead UDA, to a bundle of dope in the bushes to a tree with girls panties all over them. But the thing that stands out in my mind is when I was a kid and I was working on the Mogollon Rim and cut big kitty sign. I followed them a short distance to a dead cow elk that was very dead and very warm. Wow a fresh kill I thought. The sign in the area was wierd and I thought I would be the big bad tracker and try to figure it out. Until I spotted some sign on the tree next to me. Hmmm... Looking up revealed a 180lb+ cat flattened out on the branch 30ft above me looking VERY perterbed. I walked backwards and told God I was sorry for all the mean things I did to cats in my life. I was armed with a lever 30/30 and was all of 18years old. Doubt I would have stood a chance. :)

I'd say that belongs in a thread on the "coolest things" seen in the woods---although more than a little frightening!

Cool stuff guys...and kind of spooky. So that reminded me...

I spent a winter mountain manning off the land pretty deep in the Rockies of Idaho back in the mid 70s. Mostly along the the Salmon River and its South Fork. One cool clear crisp winter night a flash of white light filled the sky and streaked down to the Earth seemingly pretty close to where I was. It was spectacular, awesome and a "larger than life" experience. I never could find where it impacted though, assuming it did.

It wasn't in the woods, but one fall night when the Leonid meteor shower was going on I was watching it from the front lawn. One huge one (read: HUGE!) one soared across the sky and detonated with an audible pop!!! a small piece continued on out of the detonation. I've never actually heard a "shooting star" before or since.

I once saw a 55 year old dementia patient as he skipped past our comm bus shouting "WOOHOO!!!WHOOOHOOOOOO!!!!" at the top of his lungs. We saw all kinds of strange things in search and rescue......

When I was a teenager camping in Colorado somewhere I found a clay pot filled with dust.
I was curious for a few minutes about what it was, till I realized that I was on top of a mountain looking out over eternity.

It was a urn filled with ashes.

I found it very peaceful up there too and quite fitting.

I'll have to get a picture of this sometime. On a bike trail called boogieman there is a promotional wooden cutout of the Hamburger peering out from behind a tree.

Not a happy story behind the pantie tree's. but if you're still curious they are rape trees. Border crossing guides will rape women and hang up their underwear as a kind of trophie. Assuming this was still along the Mexican border. Otherwise it's also a common ski resort thing. Bone a tourist, steal her panties and throw them in a tree.

What's a UDA?
