I haven't been buying much lately other than another multi tool or two. Sinking my shinny pennies into dental work, and I don't think that you want to see those pics. :D

Mistwalker, that's a nice knife!

Got me a Garmin Montana 650, and loaded up a 32GB SD card with all the UK's 1:50,000 and 1:25,000 maps, plus full European road maps.

Not that it's easy to get lost in the UK countryside; it's very difficult. I know, I've tried! Still, I've always wanted one, and it will see some use finding interesting, out of the way places.

That's pretty tough looking

So far it is really tough!

I need to do some of that too, and you're right...I'd just as soon skip the pics :)

Thanks Rick. Man I love that DPM SAS smock you got a while back, if I ever find one that fits my chest size again I'm buying it if I have to take out a loan to do it lol. To think, I passed on the last one several years ago because I thought $80.00 was too much for it...if I had only known then how rare ones that will fit me are...

Yes, if you ever see one, grab it and run! I just wish that I could have bought one when SASS were still in business, in my size.

I am amazed at how many offers I have had to buy it off me - from as far away as Hong Kong! On another forum I put a trade advert up, to try and swap it for another SASS smock in a smaller size. Nothing so far, but I'm not letting this out of my hands otherwise, even though it really is very big on me. It is labelled as basically a 38-40" chest, but is designed to go over the top of full webbing gear to would probably fit 48" easily.

A few days ago I went for a good walk up the hills to try both the smock and my new Eberlestock Halftrack out. Both impressed me in every way. The smock held up to some quite fierce, icy-cold winds on the tops. It did its job of keeping every bit of wind out, while breathing well and not building up sweat when the going got strenuous.

I have several friends who served in the SAS or trained with them and have heard nothing but good things about the smocks. I can find a coyote brown one in my size for $100.00, but not the DPM. I have a 53 inch chest, and that's a tight measurement, and those are to my knowledge impossible to find these days...

Thanks guys! :)

mtwarden, not as light as you yet, but I'm working towards as low as I can go with my wants. My guess is, I'll be happy hovering around 10, going as high as 12 or so, for base.

Just a note, there's a full size Zlite pad in the Ohm 2.0 in these pics, used as a frame (worked so well!). It easily handled a day-hike gear/clothing load, plus lunch for two; the compression on the Ohm 2.0 is incredibly effective, even in the stock thread configuration. And the Circuit hipbelt (same on Ohm 2.0) is hands-down the BEST hipbelt I've EVER used. The best.
