Post Up Your NEW Gear ...

I was pretty happy. I've been trying to find one for a while since they're discontinued and he knew it. So it showed up in a box one day for me

Picked up a 5.11 Rush 24 pack and also two pairs of Mechanix MPACT gloves. So far I'm really digging the pack. Nice size for an edc.

splurged, going on a snowshoeing trip this weekend w/ the "boss", so I had better make it as comfortable as possible :D

I just read up on those (I don't keep up with new pad tech). Sounds like a good product. Did you get one of the bag or foot pumps?

it comes w/ a stuff sack that doubles as a pump, frankly I'm leaving it home- I've never had a problem blowing up my Neoairs that I use in the summer- because I'm so efficient- that duty has has been relegated to me for the wife's mattress as well :D

the beauty of this pad is it's high R value- it's just under 6, so should be good to single digits w/o any other pad- not too shabby for under a pound :)

Yeah, the stats on it looked good, and negatives were few. I do have concerns with inflating by lungpower due to moisture being trapped, especially in cold conditions. But more personally, because my own lungs are failing. I need to find some sort of inflator for my BA Insulated Aircore pad.

Codger, I might have one of these guys lying around somewhere. I ordered two a while ago and used one before deciding I didn't need or really want it after all. If I can find them, I'll send you one or both.

Mike, very, very nice! :D  I'm picking up my Neoair Xlite this coming month

2nd rebar - got it from that big online store for $33...what a steal :D

That is a nice piece of kit! Very versatile, great for a day in the woods. They are amazingly comfortable, too...

i went for a hike with it a few days ago and i'm sold! i can use it to hold my bike repair stuff too while riding around town...i should've bought one a long time ago.

I looked at Thermarest's site and they specifically address this concern in their faqs= no concern :) lung power, that's a different story- I know there are several lightweight inflators out there, but don't have a clue which ones to look at- the one that comes w/ the xtherm gets mixed reviews, so I'm sure there are better ones

It's great to see this thread still going strong

I haven't purchased any new gear recently so I check in from time to time to drool :D

That does look intrigueing and might work for me. As it is, I have to take breaks while inflating. I can still do it, but it takes quite a while.

I think Big Agnes makes one, but I haven't researched it. I got tickled reading the reviews of your new pads. They went on about how noisy they were due to the internal baffles... make a loud crinkling sound. They warned that "extra-curricular activity" with a significant other on one was ill-advised in a campground with close neighbors!

I just buy things and if I never post them here, it means I dont have a problem!

He makes a good crash test dummy... I mean experimenter for new equipment. I'd like to just have some of his castoffs! :)

In fact I often come here to admire equipment and read the quickie reviews. Most of it is beyond my needs these days, but I might have kicked my wife to the curb for some of it back in the early seventies.

honestly, this thread caused me to buy more gear than usual!

Hopefully you are getting some good use from it. I look foreward to you doing a trip report and laying out what you chose to take with you.

...that gives me an idea: i'll look for all my trip reports and consolidate the links in my sig/review page.

Sweet! Where did you get the lefty S1 sheath? I am pulling the trigger on an S1 within the next two days.
