Post up your small woods blades!

Razorsharp,

Did you make the grips for those two?

mneedham,

I've made those handle slabs out of Olive wood. The Izula is coated with superglue, to put that rough finish on the blade. I've dropped the Izula on Asphalt and the handle didn't ding. The BK11 handle has served me really well, as I've used the 11 extensively.

DOC; thanks for the welcome.

Mentor: is that patch knife handle padauk over ash? it's a good pair whatever it is, but it looks like the way i did my fillet knife.

canid, it's padauk over yellowheart. I really enjoy working with padauk.

And welcome to W&SS, by the way!

All the best,

- Mike

oh nice. i couldn't see the yellow in the picture, but that looks even nicer when i picture it.

padauk is wonderfull. i love the smell of vanillins, etc. when you work it.

Nice job on the 11! I carry and use mine a lot too, good blade.

Smaller blades are my favorite--I just think they are the most useful of knives. Many day trips, one of these is all I'll take or need.

Here are a couple of my favorites (at the moment anyway), each is 3" or less:

Bondy, those two you made are sweet, in fact, I want one. Let me know when you are going to make some more. I have a couple other that I dont have a picture of. Just got a cool little patch knife from Bark River.

Yeah, well, what do you expect hanging around a place like this? Nice boy like you should know better.

(BTW, Nick makes a helluva nice knife. This Stinger has a 3" blade; his standard Stinger is 2.75". I asked him if he could 'stretch it' to 3", and, wouldn't you know it, he did. In A2 at that.)

I like big choppers and very small blades, I think that they are a great compliment to each other.

I agree with you, 100%.

A big knife can do all the heavy work, and then you have a little knife, 3 inches say, that can do all the fine work, especially piercing.

Yep. Made it from one of the Cobbler blades that Ragnar was selling. It's seen a lot of use in the kitchen and the blade has a nice patina now.

Be sure to post pics of yours when you're finished.

now that's the way to raise a child; to understand knives from the start.

Thanks. Knives, guns, fire -- I believe these are tremendous tools, but need to used with proper respect. Education is how respect is learned, and my kids get that drummed into them pretty much every chance I get.
