Mojo, aka Battlecat 2000, aka Puss Puss, aka Mr. Meow Meow.

He's a Red Australian Cattle Dog, otherwise known as a Red Heeler.

They are usually called Blue Heelers because they are dark with a silver coat of longer guard hairs and the black ends up looking blue, but there are red phase and also marled phase dogs.

They are a working breed and have some dingo bred into them for stamina and toughness.

LOL,

I catch he11 around here when I call em Heelers, NO!, they're Australian Cattle Dogs :confused:

Jimmy,

Nice Dogs!

What breed are they?

At first I though Corgi.

???

Yeah, my cattle dog is smarter than I am (but that's not saying much).

I've got a decent story on my four legged friend.

About 7 years ago I was taking the old Yoter (88 Toyota pickup) for a little trail ride in the woods, enjoying some smoke and some brew. A friend of mine was riding with me and all of the sudden said, "Did you see that?" I hadn't seen anything. There was a pile of freshly cut brush just in front of us to the right of the trail. He said he saw something small and black run into the pile of limbs and leaves. We stopped and got out......realize, we are in the middle of nowhere in a holler/used to be county road/creek, in the hills of Kentucky.........not close to civilization.

As we walked over to the brush pile a small little furry black dog poked his nose out, then back in. We waited for a minute and the curiosity finally brought him out. He looked to be 5-6 weeks old or so. My buddy picked up the little pup and asked me what we should do with him, he seemed like a pretty friendly puppy for being in the middle of the woods by himself. There were no houses within miles of where we were and we wondered if someone had drove out and dropped him off. After some debate, we decided to put the puppy back down and drive on down the path to where it met an old dried up creek.......we'd hang out for a while.....then on the way back we'd take the dog with us if he was still there......find him a good owner......or so was our plan.

We drove maybe a mile before we reached our destination and stopped........not just normal driving......very slow 4 wheel drive up/down/all around driving. As we were enjoying the nice day and partaking in some cold beverages we heard something coming down the trail. As we turned our heads, here came that little furry black pup running as fast as he could in our direction.........stumbling every four or five steps.....still learning how to use his little legs. He ran right around to the front of the truck and plopped down panting heavily.

So, we had no choice............. :D

.......to make an already long story a bit shorter, I ended up keeping the dog and he ended up not being so little. He looks like a mix between an Akita and a Black Lab. He has a heavier/thicker coat than a lab, w/ a curled tail (sometimes he holds it up, sometimes not), thicker/muscular neck and head. But his face kinda looks like a lab. He has extremely webbed feet, as do both of those breeds. Who knows what he is or where he came from but he's a good dog (except for digging holes), and makes a heck of a guard dog! Maybe he's part wolf?

Meet Bud: (He loves the snow!)

Or for that matter, this one:

Of course, the top one is Chaco, my fawn Doberman, and the bottom is Moody Blue, my blue Dobie.

No pics of the little girl, Hershey, yet. Once my back heals up, though, I'll have some new ones!

My gang of 'buddies'... They seem to have a thing for INFI too! :)
All were rescue cats and adopted together. The top three that are still with me are littermates.

And here he is after a haircut, picture taken last spring at 1-year-old. He's a terrier (terror ;) ) mix. He was totally transfixed because Mrs Rok was eating something and he's eternally optimistically hopeful that he'll get a bite.

And our little boys shortly after we brought them home. We were actually at a local shelter looking for a new cat when one of my tenants called and said there were two kittens in one of the basement window openings. It was January in MN! These little terrors have been with us ever since. :)
