Post your 165's!

I take that as a NO? ;)

Pretty much, yes. But don't forget that # 00001, 00002, 00003, 00004, 00005, 00006, 00007, and 00008 are still out there. And don't turn down #00010 - 100 just because they are higher numbers.

AH MAN! I guess I'll drag my knuckles off to my room and sulk. :grumpy:
However, photos of yours might help. :)

Overcast and rain here. I tried earlier this afternoon but they all came out blurry. I'll try again tomorrow if the sun comes out. Only 50% chance of thunderstorms then.

And none of that sulking young man. There are Schrade 165's to be had in abundence. I have an extensive watch list but will not likely be buying again for a while, other than some low pricepoint knives from early last century that are still very inexpensive.

Nice!....I firm up just looking at that set Codge.......Taylors' chitscrhades have quite the opposite effect.....so it is indeed serial #00009?...hard to see without a close up....Hoo Roo

Yes, it is indeed serial number 00009. And the tang stamp and serial dies look crisp and new for some reason. Sorry about the poor pictures. Some day the sun will come out, the rain will go away and I will try again.

If it doesn't clear up soon enough for you, you always send the knife to me for a go at it. :p

Very nice, Michael.
They just don't get much better than that.

As has happened repeatedly since the Great Schrade Robbery back in November, a forum member came foreward to extend his condolences and generosity. Learning that my two Shikaris, #00953 and #02200 had been among those stolen, he sent me his Shikari complete with sheath. So here is the newest member of my 165 pattern collection, Shikari #01378 of the very early 1967 production.

A big heartfelt thankyou to the donor.

That is so like our little community. Things like that make me proud to be a member of this group.
I hope you eventually get yours back Michael. They are out there and we will not stop looking.

I am going to own a 165OT eventually,I look at the early models with the tan sheath with pocket hone and see the influence of the Randall Model 3 and 4 in the design of the 165.Interestingly Imperial was approached by Gary Randall in late1970 about making a stockman pattern knife to be sold by Randall Made Knives.A letter dated feb 1971 from someone named Dave at Imperial describes it as based on the 80 series. It never came to fruition but is an interesting tidbit of Schrade history and another of the many reasons it is such a national shame such a fine company went bust.

The 165 was influenced by Randall?
A Randall Schrade collaboration? WOW! That would have been HUGE! At the very least can you imagine the value of that? Also, had they merged that project, is it possible that Schrade might still be here today?
Thanks for bringing this up willis. :)
Do you happen to have any links that can be read on this subject?

Ballenxj I originally saw it on the Randall Knife Society forum a couple of years ago, but just googled it and a link popped up from 2009 on this very forum by poster ea42.It shows the memo from Dave at Imperial sent to RMK.As for the influence of the Randall 3&4 as soon as I saw the 165 i thought that looks a lot like my model 3 then I saw Codger64's pics of the version with the pocket hone and the sheath is a carbon copy of the RMK sheaths. After looking closer tue tip is more upswept on the 165 OT than the Mod 3 and a littoe less upswept than the mod 4.A lot of makers show influence from Randalls back in the 50's thru 70's,for instance Jimmy Lile had models tuat not only looked very similar but were even named almost the same as the RMK designs and BlackJack is another that were almost identical and were very good blades also.

Yep. Sheldon is the one who pointed me to the #4 RMK as being influential. Though the 165OT is not a copy, IMHO.

Not copied from but inspired by is the way I look at it.I think the UH version actually resembles a little more due to the buttcap on the handle.I have been looking at 165OT's for sale and will get one.I really like the steel in the 8OT and 125OT folders I have.A fixed blade with the same steel is a winner in my opinion. The only thing I would change is the same thing I would change on my Model 3,the sheath.I feel a sheath that requires care when resheathing not to cut the keeper, and or two hands and eyeballing the process to be a no-go.Pouch style sheaths allow easy no look one handed use and I prefer them.

165UH does not have a buttcap. It is essentially a 165OT with stag-like molded Delrin covers like the sawcut Delrin covers on the 165OT. Same guard, same rivets.
