Many people seemed to really like the half dome hike so it got me curious, what do the rest of us like.

Post your all time favorite hikes!! and pictures if you have them.

Mine is the Teton Crest Trail in Grand Teton National Park.

For me it's no contest. The absolute best trail I've ever hiked is the Supai trail in the Grand Canyon. It's about 12 miles of hiking down into the canyon past the Village of Supai and the final reward is this...

JRB, That view is amazing!

That just made the list of places I must go before I die.

That color is the result of minerals in the water. The campground (such as it is) is at the top of the falls. There is a passageway cut right through the cliff to the bottom of the falls if you're ballsy enought to trust the chains and handholds that keep you from plummeting to your death!

No one else has any hikes they really like?

Ok to get this thread going you can also post hikes on your to do list.

I was pretty fond of the 70ish miles between Hot Springs N.C. and Erwin Tn. on the A.T. You get to hike through some open mountaintop fields and cross a few balds. It was pretty cool. Heres the pic from my avatar, me on Big Bald Mountain.

Im living for the day and can continue on that journey.

When I went to BSA summer camp last year or the year before and did the Pinnacle Ridge Runners, you spend the week out of camp backpacking. We covered part of the Tuscarora Trail, I think its like a 38 of 42 mile(?) trail that ends with a climb up to Pinnacle Rock, all in all a very good hike.

No pics as I haven't been there since going digital, but I like the Pictured Rocks trails near the shores of Lake Superior. Plenty of gorgeous scenery and back country camping.

That is AMAZING! Definitely on my to do list now! Especially since it isn't that far away.

I love just about any hike I go on, so I'll just post a couple different places if you don't mind.

Big Basin, is a hard one to beat, especially since it is so close:

And of course, Tahoe is always quite nice:

Past favorites have been the Anaconda-Pintlar Wilderness Area in Montana, the Jotunheim mountains in Norway. Closer to home at this point are the Bold Coast Trail in Cutler, Maine, and the Nature Conservancy trails crossing Great Wass Island, Beals, Maine. I will try to post images of the latter in the not too distant future as I upgrade my technology.

One that stands out for me in its sheer craziness is Angels Landing in Zion National Park. It's busy and non-technical and even has chains bolted to the sandstone for added security, but it's a good way to see some amazing sights in Zion. I succumbed to my fear of heights, never scaled the entire thing but made it most of the way. Nothing like hundreds of feet drops just off the side of the trail to test your bravery.:o

For other favorite hikes of mine, take any number of trails in New York's Adirondacks. Giant Mountain is great, as is Algonquin. Cascade Mountain made the latest Backpacker magazine because it has the most bang for the buck. Great views for not a whole lot of climbing.

The Adirondacks also holds lots of cool spots off the beaten path like Ferd's Bog where you can walk out over a pond on a mattress of 3' thick sphagnum moss full of pitcher plants. If you poke a stick down through the moss and hold a match to the hole, it will burn like a lantern from the methane deposits. Cool place to be sure.

T-Lake Falls is another cool spot. A very private lake with a hike downstream to a majestic waterfall where you can skinny-dip to your heart's content. I'd love to go back this summer.

I don't have any pics but one of my favorite hikes was a section of the Centennial Trail in South Dakota. It started at the trailhead just a few miles from Mt Rushmore (Big Pine IIRC) and headed SE into the Black Elk Wilderness.

The place I lived until this spring was a great place.

## sorry, I posted wrong image tag

I am really fond of Half Dome. Angels Landing is really fun too, I will be doing it again this summer. I also like slot canyons, the narrower the better.
