How would you guys rate the look of damasteel over the standard hand-rubbed satin? The damasteel looks so "shiny" and I'm not sure if I like it over the hand-rubbed.

I'm on André's books for a knife next month and it's supposed to have damasteel, but I think I might have a change of heart after seeing that video. I'm kinda torn, because I don't want to bother André with a change! I think the dama blade has already been ground too

I've been looking at the A3 for a while, not too many liner-lock flippers out there.

Feel free to give a call to chat about this, but the Damasteel blade is not as shinny as the bolster in that video (almost mirror polished it looks like). The flats are mirrored on the blade, no different from Andre's usual, but the grinds are not. The Andres like a pretty high contrast etch, it can overwhelm a piece sometimes depending on what else is going on, but I like the contrast personally - when it works, it creates a really stunning piece. Anyway, my 2 cents.
