I'm about to pick up a couple of new fixed blades. Strongly leaning towards Bark River.

Posts which ones you have and your thoughts! :)

I am relatively new to this forum and new to BRK as well (will post pics later). It seems like anytime BRK is brought up, there are some that dislike the company or owner. I do not have a dog in that fight but will say that I thought about buying one for some time and finally did. I was very impressed with it. Great F&F, very sturdy. So I bough another and so on.

If you are already thinking about it, go ahead and get one (or several). I think you will like them.

At present, I have 6 BRKs...and 4 are from the Bravo family.
In order of increasing size, they are:
Mini Fox River
Bravo EDC
Gunny
Bravo 1-LT
Bravo 1.25
Bravo 3

Here is a pic of the smaller Bravos, from a thread I posted recently

(I do regret getting the 1.25 in green canvas because the sheath is the same as the 1-LT & the handles are the same length & color; so I can't readily tell them apart without picking one up to examine the thickness of the tang)

This is a pic of the 4 smaller knives, stacked for size comparison

And, lastly, the Bravo 3 with the Bravo EDC

The Bravo 1.25 is unused (arrived a few days ago). The Bravo 1-LT is great, and I highly recommend it. The Gunny - the handle is too small for my taste, so it rarely gets used. Bravo EDC - my first reaction was that it was sort of a silly little knife...I'd read the specs, but it was still smaller than I expected. I've come to like it more; but I prefer the way the Mini Fox River feels in hand. The B-III is a pretty good chopper; but I haven't had much for it to do recently.

I'm considering a classic drop point hunter - quite possibly the featherweight hunter - and still want a Fox River (though I have been fighting that urge for over a year).

I have many Bark River Knives and I like the feeling when I unwrap the tissuepaper, that surrounds the new knife in the box.

The latest arrived 6 weeks ago and it was the long awaited BR Scandi.
For me who is a Scandinavian and a user of BRK's, this was a great moment!

The Scandi in stabilised pinecone and 3V steel.

I use the knife almost daily at my work and at home, in the way Scandinavians mostly use their sheathknives - as tools.

The CPM 3V steel comes with a hardness of RC 60 and this ensures both great toughness and edgeholding.
My practical use at work has showed me, that this knife is very hard to dull.
All in all, I'm very satisfied with the Scandi!

But wait, there is more!

This handle came with an unusual feature, that was new to me:

It glows in the dark! :D

Very nice! Tell me about the big one. Is that a Bravo 2? I have one also and I think it could use a choil like yours. Did you have them do it?

Here are mine:

Here's my Bark River Adventurer. I love it. The sheath leaves a bit to be desired. The magnet is a functional but inelegant solution for making a neck knife with a leather sheath. I would have preferred a leather pocket and a kydex neck sheath.

That being said, it's no big deal. I LOVE THIS KNIFE:

You can't go wrong with any of their offerings, they make a great knife. This is my latest, a Kalahari Hunter in A2 and Bocote wood.
9¼" OAL, with a semi-skinner blade is great for just about any task. They come with a great leather sheath, too.

Hey Craytab. Here is a clearer profile shot of the one you asked about. It is a Survivor model. It has the choil standard.

I cannot post on this site as to pic's,sorry but its a old man thing and I do post on their site.

I LOVE the new ElMax Aurora that I have, bit lighter and thinner than the original one I have had for a long while.

To me ,that is THE take along all the time blade.

Cant post pics yet, I got 4 Barkies, Bravo 1 S35VN, Gunny 3V, Fox River 3V, and Parrer S35VN.
Great fit and finish, Great Knives.

The only bark river I have is a Canadian special. Really the only fixed blade I use as well. It's perfect for me except for the sheath which had zero retention and allowed too much of the handle to stick out. I was afraid to sit down because it could fall right out.
A custom kydex sheath from Kiah fixed that problem and now I couldn't be happier with it.

Fresh from the spa with ironwood burl:

I'm down to six now. I have yet to take a picture of the family together.

I've owned/used/sold well over a 100 Bark Rivers. I've never had a problem that wasn't easily fixed or that I haven't experienced with other makers and manufacturers. Exceptional knives!
