Mind explaining when and why you would choose to use one or the other? I have never really understood the specific use case for a kukri vs a similar sized straight knife. I suppose it would chop a bit better but imagine it has other upsides/downsides as well.
 
I prefer the 9 all day long over the 4. I like the 4, but you have to concentrate more on hitting the sweet spot. The 9 out chops it, imho. That said, it's still fun to use the 4 on occasion. Makes a cool draw knife. Another disadvantage on the 4, is batonning. The handle tends to hit the ground before the blade goes all the way through.
