Off topic, but since this thread has 161 pages, and is postings of pics of Beckers custom or not, maybe this idea has been over looked but...

Batoning through about half a chord of Elm.
I have since decided to burn Elm whole. It's too much of a bear to split.
While working for a tree service I once saw a gnarly piece of Elm bust the weld holding the wedge on to a hydraulic wood splitter :eek: Seasoned Elm is nasty stuff.

I see it as a testament to Kabar's heat treat. A lesser knife would have chipped out big time.

Also, the knife was batoned quite a bit after it was deformed. To me the fact that it didn't chip after being presumably weakened by the deformation is true toughness. 1095CV with Kabar's heat treat is serious stuff :cool: :thumbup:

Thats cool that you just accept it for what it is and arent on here trying to figure out how to warranty it.
 
Dang Brother! That NINE has been through a lot.

Do you still use it like that and does the wavy blade function ok?
