Stripped her naked today

If mini me carried a Becker he could run the show. The bk11 would be best for him with his tiny hands, maybe his would be two tone.

Going all out on the stripping today huh?

don't tell me your doing it naked also......

Nope not me ... That stripper chemical is some nasty stuff. Anything that eats Becker-black off that easy I don't want near any of my exposed skin. But I know your thinking about me naked. I feel dirty.

Rub some of that stripper chemical on your sausage and see what happens...

I been sanding the crap out of this BK2 today, I think I will leave it like this.
besides you get to good enough finish it scratches up really easy, I plan on
always using my BK2's....

I don't trust a knife till I beat on it all mine are "users". I really need a few sets of micarta scales they look awesome on a stripped Becker. How do they affect weight balance and do they feel different in hand? I should have joined this forum sooner didn't realize that other people sit up at night sharpening knives too.

the micarta handles are definitely a upgrade, they have a better grip to them and they are a little heavier then the grivory, but IMO it makes the knife feel more solid then it already is....

I actually really like the grivory, but the micarta handles feel and look better.

Thanks flexxx that's what I needed to know. Bladtite mentioned spray rhino liner I think I may try that for now. Maybe scrape them with a wire wheel idk I do plan to sew a leather sheath for it some time soon.

I left the gaurd on the knife because the bk12/Ritter has a guard. I was thinking that there is a purpose for it but realize that I don't like it in the way so yeah I'm going to grind it down.

Are you doing it by hand or with a sander? I've been trying to get mine to get like yours but it can't seem to get quite there. I'm using 1500 grit paper but i've gone back down to 400 and 800 to get the little black bits in the knife. Do you think I should go to 320 grit and then work my way back up?

I'm not sure what your doing wrong, what kind of sandpaper are you using (brand), I had some my wife got at the dollar store it was trash.
I started with 320 and worked my way up to 2500.

If you can get some 3M sandpaper (good stuff), when sanding go in the same direction everytime.

Sanding in all different directions will distort the finish

Your blade looks good, if you get a mirror finish it won't last long unless your blade is going to be a safe queen.
As soon as you start battoning it will scratch it up.

Hope that makes sense.

Ok makes sense now. I think my jumps from different grits is what the problem is...or I'm terrible at photography. I went from 400 to 800 instead of working it at 320 first and slowly going up (400, 600, 800, etc). At anyrate I will go back to 320 and then work my way up. I think possibly I stopped at 1500 and thats why its not as smooth. I've been getting my sand paper from the Auto parts store. Apparently home depot doesn't supply any grits higher than 800. Thanks for the advice. I'll try and stay in the same direction. Hopefully that will help with the distortion.

You also have to fully work each grade of paper. IE: if you still have 400 scratches, 600 doesn't remove them. In fact, sometimes the higher grit will show scratches you thought were gone. The solution is to go back down and work back up.

For a working knife, you have plenty of polish on that blade. For really shiny metal, at some point you need some metal polish / rubbing compound / etc.

When polishing parts for my bike, I will usually finish with Mother's metal polish or use a good carnuba wax. This helps keep some of the shine once you are finished. For a knife, I would keep it oiled.
