there is a good reason Kahr pistols are popular; in short they are comfortable, small and reliable.

so far the Shield seems to be a good pistol. i've sent a few of them out the door and have yet to hear a foul word. matter of fact, most of my Shield customers are in line for another one...

my wife has been through a lot of guns to find what she likes (Springfield, HK, Glock, Karh, Kel-Tec, S&W) and i don't think she'll ever give up her pair of G19's but... she has been carrying her M&P9C a lot lately. if she gets a bit of range time in with a Shield i'm certain that she'll trade off her CW9 for one. after shooting her first M&P she gave me the "i'm in love" eyes, letting me know she wanted one. i do have to say that she actually shoots the M&P better than a Glock, for what it's worth she says the M&P is much more comfortable. it's just a guess but i think we'll have a Shield in the house sooner or later.

it's yardwork day so i'll be rocking a Glock! old pic but exactly what i'm carrying today....

As you can see in the first pic I have a glock 27, I was quite intrigued when I first saw the M&P shield, but haven't fired it ... any commentary on how it fires?

also can't wait for the springfield xds .45 to come out ... would love to get my hands on one of those puppies.

i've shot both the Shield and the XDS. my first impression of them puts me in the S&W camp. the XDS was a little like a top heavy, shorter grip Kahr (CW45 or P45, take your pick). my pick would be the Kahr over the XDS, YMMV.

Jeez, gun/knife edc combo dudes. This is getting ridiculous.

Edwood's gonna come in soon FTW. :D

Just to play...

EDC combo: S&W 625 3" with Spydie Lil Temperance

Out on the mountain carry: S&W 629 Mountain Gun and Buck 124

A near useless round. At least look into a .380. Hell, you're better off with a .22LR.

I notice that Kahrs are very popular here. Anyone have any experience with the S&W M&P Shield? I want to get my hands on one.

Pass on all 3. .25 and .22 are both useless SD rounds.

.380 sucks as well. If you can carry a .380 then you can carry a 9mm. There is usually no size difference in the size of the gun between a .380 and a 9mm so carrying a .380 seems dumb to me.

If you must walk around town imwearing umbro's then I guess your stuck with .22 or .25.

If you wear a pair or regular shorts or pants, you can carry a midsized weapon no problem.

the part in red isn't a factual statement.

a gun > no gun

since this thread isn't dedicated to SD discussions and the forum in general isn't "gun" oriented i'll not carry this further.

I would have to argue that the .25ACP is the worst defensive round you can carry. What I was suggesting is that you are better off carrying a .22LR rather than a .25ACP. I don't like .380 either and I wouldn't want to carry it for a defensive round either, I'd have to disagree that there is usually no size difference between a .380 and a 9mm. When I was looking for a CC firearm I was first looking at a Ruger LCP and ended up passing because it was actually too small for me and I just couldn't get over it being a .380. I went with the LC9 and it is definitely larger than the LCP. While I was able to slip the LCP in my front or back pocket without issue, I can just barely carry the LC9 in my front pocket and part of the pistol hangs out of my back pocket. Luckily I don't pocket carry often at all. Granted, there are small 9mm, but I have found no 9mm as small as the smallest .380s I've seen.

These are just the suggestions I made to someone who said they wanted to get a .25. I believe that both suggestions are better suited for defensive carry than a .25. A lot of people look down on the .22LR, but I sure as hell would not want to be in front of the barrel when someone is pulling the trigger as fast as they can. A .25 is just way too unreliable.
