Post your bug pictures!

Joe,

If you want to find roundleaf sundews, go to Butterfly Valley Botanical Reserve, climb some muddy slopes into some bogs, look closely at the ground, and be prepared to get muddy.

I've found some pink sundews and pitcher plants (pictured), venus fly traps, etc in the carolina bay bogs here. they just don't get that large. I remember getting some on my legs and it stuck like tarnation.

Not fun to get smashed in your chacos :P By the way, the wax went out today

Someone once assumed I studied entomology cause I liked bugs - had to explain I was only interested in more efficient ways of killing them!

Bit early in the season yet (sunny Queensland - Australia) but if I get some pics - dead or alive - I'll post them

Wow, that is a great picture of a lacewing. They are in the order Neuroptera (nerd it up Joe) but can be distinguished by that ladder like looky thing on the outside edge of the wings. Ant Lions also grow up to be a type of Neuroptera.

How do you guys get such good pictures of bugs when you are running and screaming like a little girl from them?

Oh - wait - is that just ME that does that?

I just love seeing pictures of Bugs.

Here's a pretty common one:

Well...I must be off.....Cliff

I ran over this bug with my quad in the foothills below Kings Canyon
That looks to be a giant root borer. I bet it made a popping noise! Did your dog try to eat it?

hummingbird moth (hemaris) on a sweet pea flower. Pic taken with a point and shoot, these guys are crazy fast an move like their namesake and since the wings are clear it was hard to get a clear shot.

and slightly o/t, here's a pic of some sundews that were growing on a floating log up in the 'daks. It was an overcast day but the water was glassy and made for a great photo.

these are some great pictures guys! Keep them coming!

This is very cool, but I just found all my dragonfly pics are missing from my computer.:grumpy:
Dragonflies have oddly been very friendly with me for years. They will just come land on me or stay in the vicinity long enough and close enough for pics.
Well, enough of my whining. Thanks for all the great pics folks!
