I did so much chopping labor day but got no pictures. I actually got out and celebrated a long weekend for once, did a 5 day 80 mile trip on the Lower Gorge of the Salmon in an inflatable kayak. many places where we camped, on the larger sand beaches along the river, had no wood anywhere nearby. I broke out the nylon strapping, my RC5, a Wyoming Saw and the HB Forge throwing hawk, climbed mountains, chopped down a dead tree, hauled it down the mountain, sawed it into useable pieces and repeated 7 or 8 times. Gathering wood for 30 people is work I tell ya (especially in a rocky arid climate) but it paid off when the George Dickel came out after dinner :)

There are some great choppers in this thread!

Here are a few contributions, taken from recent chopping sessions:

Modded Trail Hawk, trail maintenance after a brutal winter in Blue Mountain (fallen:standing trees ratio was about 1:1 in parts. Lots of stuff to chop!):

Recent pics of my current favorite chopper. This big guy splits all the wood for my evening camp fires. It's gonna see a lot more action when heating season begins:

Truth is, Pit has pretty good eye for design... I love this blade. If you hold it, you feel the need to chop something. I know very little about the maker, but I would definitely buy another.

Definitely pass on the name of the maker of that beauty !! I REALLY like the looks of that beast !!

haha mneedham that's a great pic!

I don't have any pics of this in action...so how about a video!

Great thread, everyone. I didn't see any by my favorite makers - Mike Mann and Scott Gossman.
