Propane did the trick for me. Used acetone followed by Windex to clean, then sprayed with Windex to cool after heating. I wanted to share that this was done over a year ago and has been carried over half that time. The heat coloring really holds up great. I've done it to four of mine, if you don't like it... clips are cheap and you don't have to mail your knife! If you take your time there are many colors and shades that you can play with.
