Same here but reversed my first of the 31’s a large 31 when they first came out and the Detent was horrendous.
My thumb lost the battle and so I sold it. Then bought a Small 31 burl and it was perfect !
Then recently took a gamble and bought a large Burl 31 and another keeper was good out of box but now even better
My first 31 was literally a teeth grinder when trying to pop the Detent
