Post Your Feather Sticks By Becker Here

These are from a LONG while ago, when I was in on the BK17 pre-production passaround. All of those knives are gone now (:(), and the becker I featherstick with most now is the BK9 (easy to featherstick right after you split it down). I'm best at them with my Mora, but not far behind with my BK9. I'll try to get some photos of some eventually.

Nothing amazing.

And usually my feathersticks don't get much time to be appreciated, as they're burned immediately afterwards :/

I know I read it somewhere, and I am ashamed that I have to ask the question (oXide would probably give me a slap upside the head if he knew I was asking), but how do you make a feather stick, and what do you use it for?

Was looking for a project with the 16 for my next camp-out, so I'm leaning towards this, and I need to be able to tell all of the old people at the KOA what I am doing when I get weird looks.

Wow, someone responded to a thread of mine.

Basically, you just shave a stick, and it's for fire starting. Lights on fire easily. There's tons of videos on youTube that show how better than I could explain it.

Switchblade61, Warrior, 91bravo, you guys make me sick!:barf: Sick with envy! :o

I've got alot more practicing to do obviously but it seems to me that a superior feather stick requires optimizing three ingredients; 1. The skill of the hand, 2. The acuteness of the edge, and, 3. The particular character of the wood used. For me I think finding the ideal #3 is particularly necessary to gain #1 and exploit fully #2. I'm still looking for that special #3.
