Post your HI Wish List! Here's what I'd like to pick up, as funds allow...

R6 knife
R10 knife
Yeti Hunter Khukri (with white handle like the Salyan in the missing Catalog)
13-14in Tamang knife
Mountain Bowie
16-18 in Ganjawal w/ blue & yellow inlay
Everest Waki-DARK satisal and nickel silver
18-20 inch M43 w/horn and nickel silver

All I'd ever wanted was the M-43, but I'm always too late, or I don't have the funds when it's posted :( , just my luck. One day though!

You'll get it, I've been there too... I'm all bought out for the moment, but looking into the future... I think once (or if) I ever have these, my hunger for these blades will be completely satiated :) The Ganjawal is a piece of art, as is the Yeti Hunter... the whole story behind it is just fascinating, and I think a snow colored handle along with YETI engraved on the blade would just be awesome. The Mountain Bowie looks like a great utilitarian practical survival knife, and the R10 and R6 would make awesome bushcrafters. The Everest Waki would be the only japanese styled sword I'd ever need, and 100% authentic-the hand carved handles are just BEAUTIFUL. And the M-43.... well... it's a classic, I love the blade profile and that thread that was posted recently with the black and nickel silver... ooh :D

Shane225 - it will probably be a few weeks. I ordered one and Yangdu said I would have to wait until the next shipment. I did order one fully finished (non-vilager) with a wood handle. So there is still a slim possibility of a villager or horn handled M43 DOTD.

I for one am interested in the Yetti knife (Yangdu's story sold me. I love knowing the history behind a blade design). When I was a child I was fascinated by Bigfoot... Well fainted during the day and terrified at night. I remember having to sleep in my older sister's bed when I had nightmares after watching a Bigfoot documentary. This was the same older sister who used to torture me as only older sisters can, so must have been really really really terrified by my nightmare.

I am also interested in a 20 inch Gelbu Special. I heard that Yangdu's father had said that the Gelbu was the best marriage of tool and weapon and the one he would carry.

R-10 in stag handle
Bura's Tin Chirra (That's why it's in the wishlist)
YCS dragon
18th Century in Al handle
Ultimate Fighter in Caterpillar steel
BAS in double leather belt strap
Ghopte with ergo handle
King Kobra
Rajkumar Chitlangi
Villager Farming knife (Rambo IV)

:)

I came to HI to round up some utilitarian choppers to send to an off-grid friend in Canada to evaluate (he is chopping wood year-round for cooking, etc.) I thought I had a good sampling with a two Bonecutters (a 16" blem that Yangdu found for me and a sweet 12" GRBC) and a 20" AK blem DOTD. Then I read so much good stuff about the M43 that I think it may be the best one for him (the drawknife suitability and the wide bevel are big plusses). So at the top of my wishlist is:

(1) M-43 (Preferably a blem or DOTD to bring down the cost. Today I noticed that Yangdu was logged into the forum during my lunchtime, so my laptop was parked beside my soup bowl and I admit to using the F5 key between spoonfuls.)

I recently learned that a friend of mine (also living off-grid much of the time when he's not literally sailing cargo in the South Pacific) has a semi-obsession/fixation/identification with Garuda, so the other item on my wishlist would be a gift for him:

(2) Garud Ang Khola (Ideally a lighter weight version, again preferably a blem or DOTD)

I'll keep watching.

Carolina River Rat, you really need 5 FF?:p

we need some Jimi Hendrix ! :D

He probably does:D can't blame him:D
FF is the liveliest blade I have, it just begs me "pick me up, pick me up"

Wish-list:

16"-17" YCS (Original design, light weight and all)
Pen knife
Bahadur
Tamang
M43
nothing over 26oz though;)

SCAK - maybe a 20", I've got some pretty big hands.
Custom scaled tamang, I'd love to see that thing with at least an 18" blade and a slightly curved grip.
Farm Knife with a neem handle, or anything in a burl. Possibly also with a khukuri-like forward angle, just for curiousity sake.

Also, a khukuri like tomahawk, with just a little bit of an upturn at the tip to make a front cutting edge, but essentially a really wicked edged spike.

M43 - (Traditionally sized blade, spine and handle. Curved handle w/two rivets)
MKII - (Pilot/Aircrew version - 10" blade, 5.5" handle)(same as above)
R10

Bill
Virginia

My M43 is coming, but I guess it's on my list until I gets it!

I would also like:

A BDC, the smallish knife with a really attractive western handle. Pretty little blade.DONE:D

A Salyan. Like the one on the HI logo (unless I'm mistaken). This would be a keepsake and showpiece.

A YCS. I too have been struck by it's beauty. Very graceful.

An old school Bonecutter 16".

And certainly, a 12-13" old school Bonecutter. The 12.5" GRS/BC I have now has quickly become a treasure. After hearing the of the exploits and adventures of the old/original Bonecutters, and knowing the niche (for me) this wonderful small khuk fills, I believe the original blade design would improve the model.

I could add 50 more by this evening. A search through the archives reveals so many models. I have often said to myself "that would sell like crazy", after seeing a blade from years ago. I really hope Auntie brings some back. Limited runs would create sharking frenzies the likes of which I dread. HienLien (sp) would be told there was a Khukuri sell in a Tampa parking lot that day between 1 and 2 pm central time by an anonymous tipster! Take care.

Where the heck did my post go?

Well, we'll try again. It's not exactly a Wish List, but more of a "Gift List":

- My Mom and her boyfriend (my de facto stepdad) have been dithering on getting an HI for a while, since I got mine. Since they run a little company called Blue Panther Traders, I've always thought that some variant of the Biralo would be ideal. But at least, a 12-15" AK or Bonecutter would be nice to have for emergencies.
- A jungle knife, or something similar (e.g. Annapurna bowie) would be a great gift for someone who needs a machete.
- An R7 knife would probably be great in the kitchen.
- If any of the who-knows-how-many farmers and gardeners hereabouts could use a sickle, I'd LOVE to give them a fancy Hasiya, and watch their jaw drop!

As for myself, I can only say that an ASTK with steel fittings that I once saw, would have done very well if I hadn't sharked my M43 already.

Blue Panther Traders

Nicholas,

One old thread was asking for a blued khuk together with a blue sheath.
I've seen Cotherion's Tamang came with a blue sheath and it's one of the best quality SHEATH I'd seen. Full grain, soft but tough in blue.

I got lost in time whenever i look at my Red Salyan scabbard.
