Everyone knows that a moped is fun to ride, 'til your friends see you. Here's mine.

Back in 2010, my wife and I packed up everything we owned, and moved from one end of the US to the other. We had everything packed away, and picked up the rental truck, when I realized she had packed my folding knives up, and I had no idea which box it was. I wasn't going to go digging in boxes for a pocket knife, so I picked two inexpensive Chinese blades at the U-Haul rental depot, with the understanding that they'd likely make it to my destination, then be tossed into the junk drawer in the kitchen and forgotten. Heck, I figured that we'd lose them. But, it was a cheap knife, sharp enough to cut the rope I tied the tarps to my pick up with, and I needed something quickly.

Fast forward to today, and I still have these knives. My wife carries hers in her purse, and mine sits in the drawer next to my chair. Before that, I kept it in the glovebox of the truck for a number of years. I've used the knife quite a bit over the last 7 years, mainly for cutting rope or opening packages. I thought for sure that I would have been rid of it by now, but the darned thing just keeps working. it's not graceful. It's not beautiful. The opening is stiff. The blade lock is stiff. The pivot screw loosens up, but I keep adjusting it...you can't tighten it completely, because it will keep the blade from moving. It's a fine line between too tight and too loose, but I can't seem to get rid of it. The blade will take an edge, but lose it quickly if used often, but it's easy to re-sharpen.

As much as I hate to admit it, I like this knife. I want to hate it, but I can't. If I were to come across another one and the price was right, I'd likely buy another. I can't dislike it, no matter what I put it through. It's like the redheaded stepchild of my collection. I'm positive that it's a copy of something, but I have yet to find the original.

Almost everyone has bought a cheap knife that they aren't proud of, but can't seem to hate. That's because it does it's job and is a workhorse for the owner. It's ugly, without grace and style, but refuses to break under the pressure of hard work. One that they'd be happy to own again if they lost it, but are ashamed to admit it.

This knife is my moped...and I can't bring myself to feel shame in owning or using the heck out of it. Post up your moped knives!!

At least it is 440! Most knives like that are mystery steal.

I guess mine would be my Gerber multi tool I was issued in the Army just before deploying to Desert Shield/Storm. It has been through hell and is still pinching my hand every time I use it!!

Kinda looks like the Ozark Trail $3.97 that Wal-Mart currently sales. They also are a decent beater knife.

$10 ENLAN I got and has been through horrible and irresponsible things but keeps coming for more
