Post your ordinary used knives. [Injudicious Revival: Let's let it die again]l

These were all found in the $1.00 bin. Ordinary is in the eye of the beholder or in this case the bin pitcher:eek:

These were all under $5, mostly under $3 :)

I'm a little confused - I thought the thread was about recently purchased bargain-bin beaters? Other than the first post, the others seem to be very good condition knives or in one case a knife that is old but was purchased new.

I don't guess I can really contribute (though I appreciate the spirit and purpose of the thread) since I don't have anything that I have bought used that wasn't in pretty decent condition. I do have plenty of what I consider "ordinary" knives but most of them were purchased new.
Sorry I was unclear, and I have changed it a bit.
It wasn't meant to be about horrible knives, but ordinary ones. And the ones in my first post aren't horrible either. They're cheap but good. And ordinary.

Great knives, gang. Thanks for sharing. I have one or two nice ones with a bit of bone missing like a couple of Gev's. I'll have to try the dyed epoxy gambit on them.
I finally replaced the missing shield on my $2.00 Boker USA stockman: head of a roofing nail, flat side down. Pic coming.
And yes, I look very like Errol Flynn, in my dreams.

I tend to enjoy your reclamation projects, Rachel; hope you find something you can post here!

Thanks, Gary.
I'm trying to figure out what to do with this old Imperial. If inspiration hits, and I have the time, it'll probably be the next project.

I like scrteened porch's idea here. One of my main goals when I suddenly redeveloped an interest in pocket knives about a year and a half ago was to find some inexpensive old knives that I could "rescue" with a little TLC and elbow grease, and thus get them back into circulation. I haven't been as successful in finding such knives on my own as I hoped to be. But like Blanche DuBois in "A Streetcar Named Desire", I have always depended on the kindness of strangers, and around here that's an effective strategy. Here's a few "rescue knives" that generous forumites have gifted me (some of which need some work this summer - the knives, not the people ;).

Dave has also sent me some that would benefit from some additional TLC. Examples include the Holub TL-29 and the Colonial caplifter-equipped model below:

Renovations on these two are schedule to begin June 15!

I look forward to seeing those beauts all gussied up.

Jack, I'm not gonna quote your post because it's just too full of cool old "ordinary" knives.:D

Here's a bunch of good old American knives in good old ordinary Delrin.

$1!? I need to start shopping where you do. I would have even dropped an extra quarter from my pocket for that little uncle henry. Very nice.

Nice work on that shield SP

That Cigarette knife had me doing a double take Jack!
Lots of great knives right there.

Thank you sir :) I very nearly missed that one in the cabinet, came without a health warning too! :D

Thanks a lot r8shell :) That's a nice Delrin selection, certainly nothing ordinary about them

Or these

This is a good thread.

I have lots of ordinary knives and some are "ordinarier" than others as Jack Black so aptly put.

I have been working many hours and haven't had many chances to look for knives. You can usually find Imperials around though, and they are really not bad knives at all.

This thread gives me a chance to post a pic of an unusual Imperial camp knife I recently acquired. It has a nice sheepsfoot and a screwdriver/scraper blade like a TL-29. With it is my favoritest ordinary knife... a USA Schrade 34OT.

I've never seen an Imperial like that (or anything else either, I guess). Is the screwdriver blade sharp-edged?

These are all $5 or less flea market finds. Except the Camillus Hawkbill. It's been in my toolbox for years.
